I know this is an old post but seeing the stock steel wheel in the picture... I would like to know if those stock wheels clear the shock? I hear the relocation kit pushes out the shock out a bit which would or can come in contact with the tire. I am only asking as I am running FJ Cruiser steel wheels with spidertrax spacers on 315/70/17 (35s) and am considering this kit.

 

Those steelies look good. The pic is my Tacoma running FJ steelies ~4.75" backspace, with 255/80-17 and 1.25" Spidertrax spacers.

With 315s on same wheels, you'll need 2" spacers

right, it is. lol. Thought maybe a skinnier tire would help. I read a few comments above that the 2.0 Trail Relo would/could help with more tire compared the 2.5

Would going with the 2.0 relo help with clearing 35s compared to the 2.5 relo.

 

Are you running the 2.0 or 2.5 relocation kit?

 

2.5x12. Still need to trim the fenders but nothing rubs

Yeah the Archive Trail 2.0 relocation has about 1" more clearance, see post #1 details in that thread

The Trail 2.0 relo is for 2.0" smooth body shocks only, so it's tucked towards the bed, whereas this original 2.5" relo has room for 2.5" bypasses and even 3.0" smooth body

Thats plenty of room. Thanks again and thank you Eric @ARCHIVE for answering my questions. I got some researching and thinking to do.

 

It looks like a lot of room until the tire is fully stuffed. The tire moves in an arc toward the truck as it articulates up (since it has to stay perpendicular with the axle), so that space gets taken up pretty quickly.

 

My truck would hardly ever see the trail. I can count on one hand the times I took my 4runner out on trails. With that being said, I might be considering it in the near future but will continue doing research. Another option will be changing wheels. As much as I like the FJ wheels with the new color, I might change them out when I decide to relocate/upgrade my rear shocks for some with better backspacing and a little wider. This is just Taconie 1.0. Just wait for 2.0. lol

 

Got my shock relocation done today. I was very impressed with the quality and fitment of all the archive garage mounts.

I got a clunk too after the relocate, did you ever find the culprit? Everything is torqued on mine..

 

wheels torqued down too? I had a clunk caused by that once.
