@StayinStock ive been thinking about setting up a small axe throw spot in my property for fun/ stress relief. Vice the gun which I hear ya on and would be nice, just not doable. Might think of this?

 

What do you do with the remaining 7 hours?

@six5crèéd thought you might get a kick out of this. You always seem to be welding and making stuff. I was at an auto swap and saw a guy selling some stuff made from mostly car parts and a few other odds and ends.

 

Honestly, get a copy of national fire code. Use it as a very strong suggestion . Use your local code (for normal residences) as a rough extension guide. Those rule books are implemented for reasons. Some are overtly protective, but built on sound standards to protect you and your property.

When I used to help the scouts build backstops, we used railroad ties stacked horizontally with vertical holders. We built a mirror image wall with about 2’ between and filled with sand. Never saw penetration with .22 and 12ga over many years. If it were me, I’d do the trap method 1/2” plate with a sand trap below. I’d also build a backstop of railroad ties and a sheet metal face. Inspect regularly to identify any penetration. Oh yeah… hopefully this points in a relatively safe direction and NOT into an occupied area.

EDIT: I’d probably also use double headed nails and leave a 1/2” slack in the nail. Alowing some absorption movement in the plate to slow impact.

 

There’s a lot in there… trans drums, head bolts, pistons, rockers, diff bearings, spyders, worm gears, and lots more!
