I am installing the goose gear bed plate and a 17gal water tank in the front of the bed. That is why I am looking into this. Will not have easy access to the front. You think it is impossible to seal?

Road Shower installed. Left plenty of room for the camper movement.

I like where you mounted the road shower. It'll block some air from going into that over hang.

Its going to be interesting to see if I notice any differences. Already the wind noise is less. Also, I mounted it with the Road Shower mounting track facing forward so I can possibly mount lights or perhaps a wind deflector of sorts.

People have sealed them with good results, but at the end of the day our beds are made of many pieces and you might always be chasing the dream.

My personal opinion is I'd rather have my bed easy to clean with some areas of water/dust seepage than tough to clean and still get a little dust in (due to not being able to 100% seal). As it stands now my shell has been on two months and I'm perfectly happy with the inside of it cleanliness wise. I'll probably power wash it out every 6 months or so just to get rid of the light dust that accumulates. I'm about as OCD and detailer oriented as they come so that's just my opinion.

I think the goose gear stuff is coated in a bed liner style spray, so that should be waterproof enough for occassional cleaning and pressure washing. Same with the water tank stuff.

Now if you were going all out and building out a full goose gear bed system, with tons of cubbies and such, then spending the time to seal everything would be beneficial I think.

I've had two Alucab canopies, one on a second gen and now one on a third and have never had a huge problem with dust. I didn't seal either of them with anything other than the weather strip attached to the canopy.

If you want a clean room environment, then maybe a truck isn't for you.

Thanks! I am going to give it a try. I am realistic as well, some dust will get in there and there will be spills. My plan is to try and mitigate it as much as possible.

Its more about keeping my gear from getting too dusty. Dust leads to gear failures. I am coming from a SUV (Land Rover LR3) and that was plenty dusty even though I could keep it mostly clean by sealing the windows. I bought the truck specifically to build this set up and create more room in the cab. Just want my gear to last as long as possible. This is my 4th offroad/overland build. I know exactly what I wanted.

Just found this thread, so much info on here. I get my canopy camper installed the end of January and looking forward to doing the build out.

Is the GP-factor the only company that is making an install kit for the alu cab canopy camper? Does anybody know of any other option? I am in Canada and by the time I do the conversion, customs, shipping and taxes it is a stupid amount of money for a piece of steel and a couple small pieces of pipe. Just looking for any other options

Its not too technical, definitely doable for someone with a bit of ingenuity. I ordered the GP kit simply because they already did all the math and I could just mount it up. If you have a bit of metal shop skills, you could very easily come up with a mounting solution.

+1 on the OEM bed mat. I have butyl tape in the corners of the bulkhead spacer and no water gets in when driving in the rain. Going through the car wash, I'll sometimes see a little bit in there. But again, with the bed mat, it goes right under and out in the corners by the tailgate.

I could probably seal it up more if I needed it to be completely dry, but so far it hasn't been an issue.

It's really not much of an issue. We were out in the Owyhee mid October and the silt was inches thick...the kind that covers your vehicle and piles up on every flat surface and just sits there. I drive over 100 miles through that stuff over three days and don't recall seeing much of anything in the bed of the truck. The same thing a couple months earlier when we drive about 300 miles all on unpaved roads through the middle of Nevada. I'm not sure who is having such an issue with dust but I've never experienced it.

I agree, I have done some dusty roads (not quite the extreme that you mention) and have had no dust issues.

This is dust...and the bed wasn't bad at all. There is still dust in my wheels that a pressure washer didn't reach.

It is possible to completely seal your bed, with a Canopy Camper at least, as that is what I did. Not having a tailgate is the main advantage of sealing the CC.

~20 hours to do, but it was worth it to me. This is going to be my home, so keeping dust to zero was high on my priority list.

Anyone have any suggestions, pictures, other threads on mounting solar panels to the top of your tent? I am picking up my alu-cab canopy and 3.1 tent this month and want to run solar to power my bluetti eb3a to power my diesel heater and electronics. Looking at the renogy 100Watt panels and putting 2 of them on there, anyone running those or something else?
