no video as its very random and intermittent. sometimes it doesnt happen for a couple days. as i understood the lash shouldnt change upon install and everything worked fine until then. sunday project? NO NO NO. im working 2 jobs 7 days a week. aside from not having any time or knowledge of what to look for my left arm is almost useless from a health issue. my reason to take it in the shorts and pay a shop to attempt a valve adjustment in the hope they find the issue. and my other truck is down so this is my dd. shit.:bananadead:

How many miles you got on that beast? A valve lash adjustment is pretty abnormal on these trucks until at least 200- 250,000 miles. Is the truck doing it when it is cold or when it is hot?

Anyone that has replace or beefed up their rear axle. How much do you value your e brake? I’ve been getting used to not having one or lack of working well.

I am looking at ford 9 or tundra rears and undecided on a full float be semi float. Going full float likely loses either e brake. Ideally I want to keep it but full float have some nice benefits.

Saw some NA folks adding these intake manifold spacers. Not sure it does much on NA but do we have the room and any benefit?

AFE stage II intake, APR X1, URD 70mm Throttle Valve (ported and knife edged), NST intake manifold spacer, URD spec U headers, Denso IKH20, URD fuel pump, APR fuel rail, URD Y pipe, URD spec u catback, lightweight water pump pulley, Greddy sandwich cooler plate, Earls oil cooler, IPT valve body, FJ TRD shocks, Cusco front and rear sway bars, Energy Suspension rear track rod bushings and rear link bushings, Carbotech pads, Stoptech ss brake lines, Stoptech slotted rotors, Motul 600 rbf, Limited Grill, Painted hatch cover by me, Painted valve covers by me, Cobra CB, TRD rad and oil cap, Escort 8500, Autometer oil psi and temp gauges, AEM wideband afr gauge, Flexpod, Pioneer 400w speakers.
Benefits n/a, turbo, non roots blower. The work to make the spacer fit would be a lot. Needs new belt, modify brackets, clearance for hood, hoses, the belt to not hit anything. Would make changing plugs easier and possibly add to top end.

Yeah we've all been over that one before. Too much work to make it work for us.

It won’t add top end. It won’t add anything, in fact. It just shifts the torque curve a bit lower. That spacer isn’t very thick at about 1/2”. I made my own from a junk manifold just cutting off the base.

Case in point: Chevy’s L86 vs LT1. Same engine but L86 has a bigger intake manifold for more lower end torque vs the LT1 that goes in the Vette

    Yes
You can always ditch the entire mechanical e-brake from the pedal to the drums because if you are going to do a full float 9” you’ll be running discs and you can add tabs for a Wilwood electric park brake set up or just a line lock set up. Drive shaft park brakes are an option too.

Well apparently they do help, but they don't add any notable benefit to folks who run their vehicles in the streets. They are more meant for folks who race who are looking to add as much cooling benefit as possible when it really counts.

I have wondered about adding a wilwood e brake kit. Seems like it would work better anyway. I have drotors now with my rear discs and it’s like having no e brake but I think of times when I am in the mountains and Just the transmission makes me uneasy.

With the 1GR upper plenum being made out of plastic, the cooling benefits aren't there like they would be from an intake that is made from aluminum. For that kind of intake, you'd need a phenolic material for the spacer though. Making ours out of the oem plastic from a junk intake will prevent heat conduction like the aluminum will. Depending on the quality of the machining of the aluminum spacer, the OEM cut to fit might also be a better choice, since OEM gaskets can be used for sealing.

One unseen benefit of the aluminum spacer however, is that a resourceful individual can use it as the base for a custom intake manifold. For the other induction forms.

All great reasons, but mostly I was just cheap haha. Here’s the one I made. Actually made two, and gave one to a local TW guy (forgot his handle :anonymous:). It’s 18mm. Have run mine for 3 years with no leaks yet. I’m about to make a third because I came buy another spare IM.

$100k question.... is the spacer installed on a/your trd supercharged motor? Or have they all gone on an NA motor?

I have the hood clearance and a spare IN manifold.

I sure @Torspd can chime in with better knowledge on this.
A spacer like that on a forced induction engine is not needed. You're forcing air in so tuning the intake track and length is not as important.
Side note: for 95%plus of the applications will not benefit from it. We are not building a $100,000 engine for a purely racing use only.
