Aaaaaand as I mentioned, I finally got 3 tracking numbers which are for my cnc plasma table, misc items for said table, and my machine torch holder.

Speaking of, my machine torch should be arriving soon too.

My radiator is from just 2-3 weeks ago :luvya:

We don't talk about my other parts I've hoarded for some time now :luvya:

Pulled Reptar in to do a little work.

    20221231_121736.jpg

Before I can immediately go in and pull out the radiator, there's a bit of work that needs to get done beforehand.

To get to some of the hoses and bolts, the battery and battery tray has to come out.

    20221231_130229.jpg

For a little more room, you can pull off the steering stabilizer which I opted to do.

    20221231_130237.jpg

Was meaning to pull it as I've had an OME sitting new in box for about 10 months now :anonymous:

Starting to understand why the previous owner left this worn stabilizer.

    20221231_130437.jpg

Got it off finally but no amount of pounding can get this tapered bolt out of the bracket.

Since the OME stabilizer fits perfectly on it, I'll use it temporarily so I cleaned it up.

    20221231_132001.jpg

Figure once my cnc table arrives, I'll just make myself a new bracket.

Toyota engineers: "you think we gave our mechanics too much room to work with?"

    Other engineer "hold my Zima"

Fucking petcock is tucked in between the frame and transmission lines :annoyed:

    20221231_132347.jpg

Best way to get to it is by pulling off the transmission line but to even get close to it, the steering stabilizer had to come off anyway.

Because there's no "nipple" to access and connect a hose to for ease of draining, you've got to let it flow at a not-so-fast rate seeing as how it drains through the subframe.

    20221231_134101.jpg

While that drains, the front grill gets pulled off.

    20221231_140226.jpg

Had an idea and I thought maybe I could get a vinyl decal to cover the AC drier.

    20221231_140057.jpg

With the radiator drained, it's time to remove the hoses.

    20221231_141606.jpg

    20221231_144853.jpg

These come in clutch to block off and stop excess drainage.

    20221231_142000.jpg

Why does every issue begin with "the previous owner..."

Went to remove the fan clutch only to find that I have a 13mm nut whereas the rest are 12mm.

It's seized and started to pull the stud out.

Don't have a tube bender for the front, or an actual design.

    It's "good enough" for now.

Rear I'll do when I find motivation :luvya:

Took a little persuasion but I knocked the fan clutch off and removed the fan clutch, radiator shroud, and radiator.

For those that didn't catch why I'm replacing it, this is why.

    20221231_160011.jpg

Unfortunately I wasn't aware of how common it is for this to fail and break.

They even sell little brackets to reinforce it, but I decided to just upgrade all together.

Fuck me, I could've had this new radiator installed by now but I figured now was a better time than ever to replace my leaking power steering hoses.

It's so fucking rock hard, it'll make most of you look limp dicked compared to when you saw your first boob.

Cutting doesn't even phase it, it literally breaks like hard plastic.

    20221231_164150.jpg

Fortunately, I'll get back to it Monday (gone tomorrow) and pull it off any way I can and replace it.

Then proceed with throwing in the new radiator.

    Woke up and chose violence.

Went to hang out with the in-laws for a bit until I decided I wanted to take care of this stupid hose today and not tomorrow.

After a knuckle bust or two, the top piece came off the reservoir.

    20230101_134825.jpg

Now I needed to fight off the lower.

    Fucking FINALLY.

    20230101_141221.jpg

You can see there is so little room where the power steering pump is.

    20230101_141743.jpg

    Here's that replacement.

    20230101_141339.jpg

"While I'm in there" I figured I'd yank off the old belts. Bought a new set to replace them with.

    20230101_144248.jpg

    Fucking mint.

    20230101_145352.jpg

With all that taken care of, I can start reinstalling shit.

    20230101_145940.jpg

    20230101_145931.jpg

I'm already trusting a 3rd party seeing as how this radiator isn't OEM. I've got an OEM cap I'll be throwing on.

So I'm just going through things before buttoning it all up and it's shit like this that gets to me.

Bolts missing on the ac condenser's upper mounts to the radiator support, so I used some hardware I've got laying around.

Not my proudest moment but something is better than nothing.

    20230101_154055.jpg

    20230101_154104.jpg

Even one of the headlights is missing one but I've got no more M6 x 1.0 bolts.

Will need to buy many more.

How do you keep from angering the Toyota gods?

    You use their fluids

    20230102_131420.jpg

Burping the system, though it's been over 15mins and it finally reached 82 (178) degrees.

    20230102_131431.jpg

Will need to drive it around, put it up on an incline, and lock to lock the wheel several times to get the air out the power steering lines.

@Taco critter bumper might be delayed but at least progress is taking place :luvya:

Need to undo and move this stupid clamp to get the steering damper installed.
