Hello, I have an 03 Tacoma 4x4 2.7L Manuel. It has 503,000 miles and I just installed a new motor from Frazier Engines. I replaced everything and I mean everything new with the motor swap. All parts were purchased via Oreilly’s except for injector inserts that had to come from Toyota. I just changed oil for the first time on the new motor and after three days I have zero power. I can just make 20 mph with a heavy throttle. I removed all exhaust and replaced the fuel pump with no change. MAF is reading correct and I am only getting 02 codes and a system purge code that has been there for a long time. Other than that no other codes. Check engine light is not flashing and I have correct compression on all cylinders. Plugs are not fouled and all coils are good. No knocking or coolant in the oil.

These motors are known to not play nice with non-OEM components. If you replaced critical sensors with anything other than OEM or Denso parts, you are just rolling the dice.

Yes rpm is around 800 to 900 idle. When applying power the engine struggles to stay running and horrible shaking. Even when matching throttle like before to start moving.

Post some pictures of your live data at idle and at 2500 rpm and again while driving 20 miles per hour if you can get someone to take a snapshot of the pids while you're driving.

You said you replaced everything new yet you have codes that have been there "forever". So it sounds like you didn't replace your 02's but posting the pictures I mentioned above should help get to the bottom of that if they're an issue.

By replacing everything meant engine related. I will get the information as I can and post results. Thank you.

    Was the fuel filter changed??

    Any fuel lines kinked ?

At any time did things work at all normal?

    Good luck!

    So what changed??

Run the fuel tank low and suck a bunch of dirt ?

Get a bad tank of gas??

Just what brand fuel pump?? It might be failing already.

Besides the oil change what else did you when the problem started?

Truck was running like new. Fuel was a half tank, gas was from same station and other vehicles have had no issues. Was driving home from work at 30 mph, instantly lost power and could not maintain 30 mph speed. Heavy throttle to maintain 20mph in 2nd gear. Almost made it home and fuel pump quit. Replaced pump and could start but hard to idle, removed muffler with no change, removed all exhaust and will idle but not able to maintain power enough to drive. Reinstalled first catalytic converter with no change.

    Simple stuff first......
........problems just after fueling suggest evap system....
any leaks or problems there cause the rough idle you suggest...
evap system starts at fuel reg.....and numerous componets all the way back to the tank and gas cap seals....

Next simple is the electrical.....battery and ALL grounds all checked....

then the firing line ......everything down the am1 and am2 power line...

right in middle of all that is the ignition switch.....which rarely just goes completely out....
but starts causing weird probs under loads.......

Vacuum leaks in these old trucks......about the same as using non oem engine sensors.....
vac trouble spots are brake booster, and pcv valve hose/grommet.......

And I have a ton of O'reily and napa parts on my truck.......

But but on everything that touch the engine computer........ most have success with sticking with all oem sensors ordered from a real toyota dealer.....

The starters, steer pumps, shocks,..... who cares,..... its the engine sensors that are super important.....
