AuxBeam with Overland Equipped

Hey guys, trying to go a different route than the entire overland equipped offers. I bought the bracket, then going to combine it with a 8gang Auxbeam switch. Has anyone mounted these two together, it’s just barely too big for the two screw positions on the Auxbeam. So wondering how to go about mounting it.

 

Drill new mounting holes and trim those off flush.

I’d trim the sides and go with 3M auto body double sided tape. Careful where you drill on the aux beam. There is a circuit board under the epoxy.

 

So I was thinking of doing new holes but like RDT said I don’t wanna drill through the circuit board underneath. But wondering if 3m will hold well enough under the hood. The stuff works great inside.

 

Hack the tabs off (not necessary) and use some heavy duty outdoor tape. You’ll be surprised at how strong that stuff is.

I had my switch pro mounted that way as well as two different solar panels. No issues.

 

Didn’t realize it would have a full length circuit board in there, glad you didn’t take my suggestion.

If you don't want to use tape/glue... go to your local hardware store or metal supplier and get a 1" wide piece of aluminum or steel. Drill and tap two holes in it. Use bolts from use bolts through the auxbeam's existing mounting tabs and into the new piece of metal, sandwiching the mounting plate between the two.

 

You might be able to get away with just getting some short bolts and using large diameter washers on the bottom to clamp it to the bracket.

 

Why not just use a mount kit that works with the Auxbeam directly?
