What's up yota fam? So I did the 6112/5160 swap about 4k miles (2 months) ago, and didn't have any weird sounds or other concerns since with the front set on 4/3. About 3 weeks ago, I started noticing a squeaky sound coming from the front. At first I thought it was just the center cap for the stock wheels, however after receiving and wrapping my RR7-h's with wildpeak 265/70 this week, the squeak is still there and naturally driving me nuts. I do plan on re-setting the 6112's to 6/5 for another 1/4-1/2" of lift, and adding my AAl before getting aligned but the truck tracks straight down the center of the road and doesn't feel funky in any kinda way as is. While it's apart for the re-set I was going to pack the lower shock bushings with grease or fluid film and do the same for lca's, but wanted to post this vid and ask the community if anyone else has experienced before going crazy on it.

I was convinced it was the sway bar, but after re-torquing everything I found the driver side lower shock bolt a little loose and after tightening it up felt like it went away for about 5 seconds. Now it's back in less than a day, and the lca's, sway bar, and nuckle bolts are all torqued to spec. Still feel like its that lower shock bushing, and I have noticed it is more severe while applying the brakes.

Really hoping someone can help me identify this noisy little fukr. Truck only has 20k miles and the only other things I've done are full steel skid set and S&B cai.

I would put money on the core support bushings. I have replaced dozens for making a squeak noise similar to this.

Torque down all the bolts and nuts again that you removed for the the install. What springs did you use on the 6112's? Towards the end on the second video it sounds like you have something loose in the cab maybe. My coffee cup makes that sound in the am.

Body mount bushings. I had that exact squeak. It was one of the front two under the radiator support squeaking. I haven't done the four under cab yet but those front two were done immediately because that squeak was very annoying.

That bolt being loose is why you're supposed to retorque everything after a little driving when working on suspension, it happens.

I was planning on adjusting everything after it settled, and seeing how much lift it gave at the different clip levels. Now that I have the wheels/tires on, next is AAL and adjust the front clips to bring it up to what ideally will be a 1" rake unloaded, 1/2" loaded with tools. My stock leaf pack is flat.
Makes sense it would be the cab bushings, it doesn't make any noise during articulation and makes the most when the cab has some force exerted on it, most severely during braking or coming into a corner. I did the suspension myself so naturally it freaked me out to hear something like that, not knowing if I missed something exposing myself to unseen liabilities.
The truck only has 20k on it, so I'll probably have Toyota do it on principle. Truck was made in Mexico so wouldn't surprise me if they didn't torque to spec, don't even want to think about what else they could've missed.

It's not that they're not torqued properly, the factory bushings themselves are just really shitty. Rogue Offroad has an aftermarket kit that replaces the factory stuff and is far superior. The front two are the main issue for most people (although some have had issues with the middle two, front of cab). I would just get the Rogue kit, do it yourself if you feel comfortable, and never worry about it again. If you have Toyota do it, you'll have the same issue in another 20K miles.

Is the kit you're referring to the Energy suspension body mount kit? I don't see any other bushing options for the mounts so assuming it is, but want to confirm. Hoping these don't fall into the category of the sheet metal issues people have had after swapping core supports

I have torqued everything a few times, the secondary noise was construction in the neighborhood. I used the Bilstein springs that came with the 6112's, might swap oem back in when I install a hybrid bumper. Word around the campfire is that factory springs are 700lb, and the 6112 springs are 600. After torquing everything the sound doesn't change at all, so i'm convinced its the core supports driver side by radiator. Didn't know they were a problem and after being exposed to it did some research and found out what is already common knowledge in the Tacoma world. Have spoke to several people that had to swap them out between 10-20k miles. Ridiculous but reality

Thanks. I skipped the full $230 kit and found the 2 radiator mounts for $30 from Energy suspension.

Sad to say after swapping the rad support bushings, the squeak is still here. The old bushings were def worn through so needed to be replaced, but it didn't help with the squeaks.

Edit: Looks like I'll be dropping my skids to see if it's them. Also going to take out the 6112's, adjust them, put them back in and hopefully re-torquing everything provides some relief. This shit is so incredibly annoying considering the truck has 20k miles.

Looks like it was the bushings for the top shock bolt on the top hat. Tightened it up a bit more and no more squeaks. Wanted to report in case anyone else experiences this.

sub. pretty sure i have the same squeak. I can recreate it when I rock the truck back and forth. Which leads me to thinking it is something in the control arms or coil overs. Its definitely front driver side. I have replaced all upper and lower ball joints.

Honestly not hard at all. I have a stock bumper and found it easiest to remove the wheel and take out the plastic "push lock" pin for the plastic fender, pull the 10mm bolt from the bottom, and another from the lower side, then fold that fender up inside enough so you can see the mount. once the bolt is out, I used wood blocks and a jack to lift the cab just enough to pull the old bushing out, there is a rubber nipple facing down that feels like its in the way but if you twist it while pulling, it will roll out. Easiest to do that final removal while reaching in from the top. I used a 10" standard socket extension and u-joint to torque them to 36ft lbs when finished, allows the wrench to float below the front frame and had plenty of room for full swings. You can see the tops of the mount through the front engine bay, and can easily get in there to put a 14mm wrench on the bolt head while torquing for removal and install.

Yeah I wasn't sure how much force would be neck so I just tried to match the thread depth to the setting on the stock shocks. It was a real pita because I couldn't recreate the sound, and it would happen sporadically. then I closed my door the other day and hear it, so started rocking and sure enough was able to nail it down to that top shock bushing. Tightened it up just enough to give it some squish and voila, no more squeaks. I just put about $3,700 into it over the last 3 months, so driving around sounding like a moron was really pissing me off. So glad it's quiet again I was about to drive it off a bridge
