Alrighty guys, I'm back! So I was in the process of ordering a Westcott Designs "lift kit" kit for my 2019 OR. In the process of reading some reviews, I saw some that I wasn't super happy with as far as negativity goes. So, if my budget is a grand, what would you recommend doing? I have a guy I work with who can do the work. I've looked at suspension (Bilstein 5100's) and honestly just gotten confused, and I've looked at some of the rough country kits, but people seem to either love them or hate them. I've even looked at just doing a Supreme spacer lift, as I don't plan to be doing any super serious off roading, just some light trails here and there. So, if you had a grand for a lift kit, what would you do? Also, saving up more is an option, but I really wanna get higher up in the air right now haha.

For a grand, buy the Eibach kit! It’s like 750

    Yes. Or 5100s.
I like the Eibach because they matched their springs to their shocks vs. 5100s where you have to buy separate springs.

Great. So with this kit, I don't need to worry about UCA's or anything like that? I would like to run 285/75R16's if I can.

I *think* the general rule of thumb is that if you keep the lift under 2.5” then you can get away with stock UCA’s. When I had the 5100 kit from Headstrong (pre assembled with coils and all that) I was around 2” of lift and was able to get it aligned with factory control arms.

Someone else here probably knows much more than I do though.

Some stuff Is even more than 25%. The coupons are online. I just got two recovery straps and they were 32% off. They are good straps too. I've used the same ones a lot as guiding trees I was cutting down.

Tried with several items that I've been eyeing....coupon code does not apply to any of them. Even reading the fine print, at least one of them should have qualified. Oh well....

Weird. I only bought two recovery straps. I did have to make two separate transactions because the coupon was a only one time use per transaction. The were normally 30 and the sale was 20.

UCA's aren't necessarily needed to run that kit; BUT, if you're trying to stuff a 33" tire, you're very likely going to need them. Aftermarket UCA's typically have built in caster, or adjustability in caster to push the tire forward some in the wheel well. This pushes it further away from the body mount, and lessens your likeliness to rub, although you may still also need a CMC (cab mount chop) to alleviate rubbing if you intend to use your truck offroad/be able to flex without rubbing. Its a good kit, and paired with UCA's, it'd be a really great kit. I've seen a couple Eibach kits for killer prices in a few of the southeast sales threads. I'd scoop one of them up for cheap, and use your saved money on UCA's (if needed). Your wheel specs will be pretty important in determining how badly you may or may not rub.

Not all UCAs are created equal. A UCA that does not allow for caster and camber to be adjusted separately will result in alignment issues. Also, it depends on the offset of the wheels and the specific tires.

This is why you have a ton of opinions on this and multiple people saying different things. Some people can run 1in lift and 33s while others with 3 in cannot without rubbing.

Agreed, thats why I made sure to say aftermarket UCA's 'typically' have built in caster, or they may have adjustability; he'd obviously wanna know what he's buying before he hit the purchase button on just any set of UCA's, because they're definitely not all equal, and may not even be needed, depending on his wheels specs (offset, backspacing, added spacers, etc) and alignment.

At the end of the day, given the crazy amounts of users on TW running lifts and 33's, it would be most wise to budget/expect a need for aftermarket UCA's, a CMC, and some trimming of plastics. Doesn't mean they're all necessarily needed, but more often than not, they are. I'd rather steer someone seeking to educate themselves on the topic towards the side of caution verses saying it'll work when it might not. There's way too many posts of people disappointed with their 33's rubbing when Joe's brother's uncle's nephew's friend on FB said it worked for him :anonymous:
