Here in Yosemite and after a day and a half of heavy rain in 40-50 degree weather, it feels like the inside of my rtt is wet. *I'm not camping and the tent is closed up under the canvas cover it comes with. Regardless, I can’t do anything about it now.

Has anyone had this happen? Tomorrow after getting home I will air it out I’m sure it will be fine and I don’t think mold will grow however anyone with some knowledge is welcome to toss it my way!

Gotta drive home 5-6 hours tomorrow so that’s the plan. Get home and open it up to air it out. It wont be warm at all but I hope it will dry…

ive gone like a week without airing my tent out, a couple times.

once it snowed when camping and it didn't stop snowing for like a week and i needed to drive around.

another time it was wet when i closed it and just kinda got busy and didnt air it out until the next weekend.

i haven't noticed any major damage related to it being wet

Anyone order the new intrepid campgear geo 2.5 rooftop tent? If so, what’s the lead times on these things?

    A bunch of shit...
Any idea of how well this tent holds up in wind? I'm thinking about picking up one as they're still on sale, but I camp in places with some pretty strong winds at times. I feel like pointing the hard shell side into the wind would be helpful, but I don't have any experience as of yet.

    Yeah.
No experience with that particular tent, but the classic soft-side style I use (CVT Mt. Shasta) does fine in the wind overall, with just 2 main issues:

    1) You want to tie down the side that flips open so it doesn't fold up on you. Paracord to a slider or wheel seems to be what most people do. Some people use sand bags or gas cans to varying degrees of success.
    2) The flapping can get loud. Ear plugs are your friend.

Deploying those awnings in high wind might be difficult and not end well, but I've used one in a windy spot without any issues. As long as you don't have the entry opening facing the wind, any other direction should be fine, with varying degrees of flapping noise.

When things are looking windy I've taken to bringing a baggie of those black office clips, and clip some of the loose fabric (that's likely to flap) to itself to tighten things up and put a bit of ballast on the flappy loose fabric. Seems to help a lot.

I'm looking to replace my current RTT and have narrowed my choices down to the following. I'm wondering if anyone on here has experience with any of them and could give me their thoughts on quality and ability to set up and take down. The main thing I'm looking for is a wedge style RTT I can leave my 4" air mattress inflated inside my tent, which i can't currently do.

I currently have a 1st Gen Mt Hood, so I'm familiar with CVT, but not the others.
    • Alu-Cab Gen 3-R
    • 23Zero Kabari
    • iKamper Blue Dot Voyager
    • CVT 2 Channel Mt Hood
Also, does anyone recognize the bed rack in these pictures?

I own a CVT 2 channel Mt. Hood. The stock mattress leaves a lot to be desired. I tried adding a 1" foam topper to it, and the stock mattress plus that, with no other bedding would not allow the tent to close. I don't think you will be able to fit the 4" mattress inflated in there.

You're killing me, but thx for the info. I'm going to check one out this weekend and see if they will let me throw my mattress in and try it out.

    Yeah.
ExPed mattresses deflate pretty flat and are partially self-inflating, you just have to top it off. I fit plenty of bedding and an ExPed in my CVT, but no experience with the iKamper.

If you're seeing it in person then you'll know for sure. I'd be surprised if it would fit. The stock mattress plus a thick sleeping bag were tight. Certainly do-able but tight.
