There is always a chance for engine issues with a new version. The one thing Toyota can do to make the Gen4 Tacoma a winner is design. If it is a smaller Tundra then it will be designed for BroDozers and not that great offroad. Just look at the approach angle on the Tundra. That front end is over a foot from the radiator. I believe that is what will happen with Gen4, because the Gen3 already has a gap to the grill. Just look at 23' vs 15'

    A few.
Whenever the actual 4th gen tacoma is actually shown and released, I sure hope Toyota doesnt play Peek-a-boo games with it like they did with the Tundra and drag it out over months.

They will probably show it at a show and a camo wrap on it. Car manufacturers have been doing that lately to make people think they have secrete info. So dumb.

I think if Toyota does this again with the next gen Tacoma, it will be absolute suicide for them. They HAVE to make this Tacoma compete in the midsize segment because the Tacoma is number one in sales in the segment. But….. I have no hope for Toyota after how they completely butchered the Tundra. If they drop the ball on the Tacoma, Toyota deserves to lose as much money as possible.

Main reason I'm on the fence about sticking with toyota. I love off roading and the Gladiator is looking very appealing to me . A lot of Tacoma guys have switched as posted on other boards , Gladiator is far more comfortable for a driving position.

They needed to be (murdered), what were they thinking!
And the turning radius on the ’22 is atrocious. They really screwed the pooch on that one, and we probably only have the tip of the ice berg, and without tow hooks, they were hoping people wouldn't go off-road lmao!

Could they have gotten a hangover from the Cerveza virus?.

"What are the problems with the 2022 Toyota Tundra?
The automaker claims it is “engineered for adventure,” but many customers are finding more excitement than they signed up for. 2022 Tundra owners are facing a multitude of problems including reduced engine power, throttle lags and surges, stalling, faulty brakes, and electrical problems.Nov 29, 2022"

This hilux looks anemic compared to the current generation tacoma. Doubt 4th gen will look anything like it.

Granted the 22s had some fitment issues and a few other things that were likely a mix of redesign and Covid production (poor supplier parts) than anything. The 23 owners are not reporting issues and expect the 23 Tundra to be the only CR recommended full size truck.

The only way I am going to consider the gen 4 Tacoma is if the payload increases at least 500-800 lbs and the towing increases at least 1K lbs. Those 2 things would be the only things to me that would justify buying, with the inevitable price increase. I would guess most of the popular trims will be knocking on 50K.

Not for me, even without all the quality issues in the new Tundra, that truck is a hot mess. I was a customer and it was going to be my next full size truck, I decided against it even before the turbos, hybrid systems, and transmissions started to fail..

The new Tundra is quite ugly, hope they don't copy much of its styling onto the Tacoma.

Just purchased another Tacoma. Took 10 weeks, after initial deposit. V6 of course, who in the hell wants a 4 cylinder and tow 6K lbs + ? The bean counters seem to be in charge of sales vs performance.
From what we have seen on spy photos, etc., the new Tacoma looks like a mini Tundra. And the Tundra looks like an abortion. The front end, ever see barges in the river ? Designs are going nuts.
Re-sale, and trade in value, the 4Runner and Tacoma are best.

GMake621 posted this : I’m on the cusp of taking delivery of a ‘23 F150 4wd single cab coyote v8 with 3.73 gears.
That is a good choice for a larger pickup.

So it seems we get a FUBAR on the '24 Taco just like the '22 Tundy.
I hate the new Tundra look too, but would tolerate it if I was comfortable with the long term cost of maintenance. In other words, I'll pass on the '24 Taco smh

The exterior of the new Tundra looks terrible, and I will not purchase one or a smaller version.
