Plumber, Gardner, zoo keeper, cook. Oh, you mean professions plumber.

Google up "Water Hammer" if you think you have air in pipes (clunk on clunk off, this mainly say, off main water, open all faucets to drain water out; then turn main water on). Easy fix if that is what you have.

well it isnt the clunkin sound........its more like a fog horn......its long lasting.....5 to 10 seconds. today i got home and put the kitchen faucet on. it had pressure like air wa sin line....i let it run and cut it on and off several times and it went back to a normal flow. we tried cutting the water off over the weekend and it defenitly improved things but it didnt totally fix it. the sound is alot quieter now but it still does it some.

They're just never around when you need them .

Scott is probably busy firebombing a non-union site .

Do you get this noise when you turn on the hot water? If so check your water heater and see if you can pinpoint the noise at that location........let me know what you find?

When you say you cut off the water over the weekend do you mean you turned the water off @ the main? If so you will get more air build up in the lines as well......

Does it make the noise when you use any faucet or just the kitchen faucet? Cause if it's the whole house(any faucet) then your main cutoff valve could be bad.

    this^^^^^

    this^^^^^^^^

this could also be cause by high water pressure.....
if it is just the one fixture then it could be either the faucet
or if it only happenes with the cold or hot it may be the washer in the shutoff's

Do you have a pressure reducer valve? I looks kind of like a bell and would be connected to your meter.
