Does the backup camera still work?

 

Yes. I feel a little dumb for not unplugging the odbii sensor sooner, I don't use it, it's half worthless anyways. Now I just need to pull the unit and unplug it from there too

Yeah, too bad you could not get more info from the OBDII. I would really like the milage/fuel tracking and TPMS to work.

 

I have been playing around with the obdii and blue tooth. I have no issue connecting a OBDlink MX and reading the OBD data. This new radio also supports more than one bluetooth connection. so while connected I can still connect CarPlay. Picture attached of split screen with CarPlay, OBDlink app, and the radio.

 

Does this headunit have RCA ports for aftermarket cameras? I want to add a front facing camera.

 

Has enough for 4 cameras

 

The new model only has 1 reverse camera and an aux input for 1 additional camera.

 

The shark fin adapter, the blue end goes on the Head unit and I don't see where the other end goes on the truck.

 

Ok, so I’m intrigued. How ever did you get the tire pressure sensor to display?

 

I purchased the Toyota enhanced module for the obdlink.

The obdlink will only connect to one system at a time so you have to choose tpms or engine data.

 

Well here we go again with my unit. Eric emailed me an update to fix the fan shutting off when carplay connected. I followed his instruction on installing the update and now my unit won’t boot back up. I have a black screen but the hazard and seat belts buttons light up so there is power to it somewhere in the unit. I have tried to press the reset button and have removed it completely to disconnect power altogether from the unit but it will not boot back up. I have emailed him a few times now as well as customer service has also asked him via email to assist me but so far zero response from him. I don’t know if he is working on it or what but you would think he would at least acknowledge my email with some response. This is what it looks like now after the update. I know its getting power as I can still use the hvac controls through the buttons and with cold weather here thats a guess by feeling where air is coming out and what temperature and all but just a black screen.

You purchase the enhanced modules through the app for your year. I think it was about $15

 

Was Thinking about getting one of these, after reading all the threads seems like they pulled the trigger way before it was ready for market Im gonna take a hard pass.. JMHO love the concept but too many issues

 

Can’t say I disagree.

Been looking at this thing for what feels like a year. When I get close to pulling the trigger, somebody complains about a weird problem, then other people say there’s no problem… It’s like I keep getting strung along without ever buying anything in hopes that they’ll fix all the glitches.

Seems like such a cool idea to modernize my 17 year old truck. Guess I’ll just keep using my CD changer.

 

I bought one and had to exchange it after the screen stopped working.

 

Was the exchange smooth? It’s not a big deal if I’m inconvenienced briefly.

 

At first I wasn’t getting any replies from their so called “engineer”. I then shared my experience by commenting under an AuCar YouTube video by Alpine Tactics. He replied and said he had a direct line to them. He contacted them and their engineer replied promptly. We exchanged some messages, a video of the issue and he then said it needed to be exchanged. The exchange took a while and I opted to give them a $500 deposit for shipping the new unit before they received the old unit which was refunded promptly when they received it. Note: make sure you have WhatsApp or each email takes 24 hours. Unfortunately the replacement machine didn’t make it in time for me to go on my cross country drive and we had to take my wife’s 4Runner instead.

 

Well, that sounds less than convenient. How has the new unit been?
