My municipal power service is raising prices $20 a month across the board to all customers.

The last state I lived in had an opt in feature if you wanted to have more renewable power “blended” into your home service. (Someone will need to explain that to me with a crayon)

At one time we could get tax credits for home solar.

I want an EV with 50/70 miles around town and my truck for hauling or longer trips. A hybrid one day when a truck can get 45mpg would be nice.

Here in NJ we get special rates for EV charging, cash discounts at time of purchase on new EV purchases up to $55k, no sales tax and other DMV discounts.

I’m sticking with gas, the mining that’s needed for batteries and other tech products is going to be huge, usually in underdeveloped countries. Oil you drill straight down. Plus my trucks paid for and being a Tacoma with a 30 year life span, no need to spend 50 to 100 grand vehicle just to save a few bucks at the pump.

What if batteries are developed that use less than half of the Cobalt and Lithium?

Seeing how EV vehicles are just getting started you still have a huge amount of mining required.
Plus they are starting to jack electricity prices at certain charging stations, if you don’t have the luxury of picking when you charge.
My buddy has a new Hyundai EV and he’s putting in solar panels at his farm. It’s a cool car but not cheap.

Battery chemistries are a few years from Lithium and or Cobalt free or less than 2/3 needed. Obviously it's cheaper to charge at home and can be 60%-70% cheaper to fuel than a petrol vehicle to go the same miles. EV's aren't for you yet but it's still a developing technology with an infinite room for improvement over anything petrol fueled.

Because straight down for oil has never set the Gulf of Mexico on fire and turned the water black, decimating habitats and local economies.

You can always say the grass is greener, but the fact is that it’s a dirty business getting the stuff out that makes our cars go.

They are still going to be drilling for oil, Need it for tvs, tires, your laptop, shoe soles, bunch of stuff and now we are doing big time mining overseas for EV vehicle materials.
I think oil blowouts in the ocean suck, I love surfing, kayaking - (dang rotomolded kayaks are made with oil).
They should look more at emission control on ICE vehicles.

This is just the state DOE, some local power companies, like here in NJ, offer EV incentives also. People would be surprised what their power company will have.

    No thanks!

I don't want to buy a vehicle that requires poor folks in the Congo to mine cobalt by hand in unsafe working conditions for a dollar or two a day.

This dirty "green energy" thing has gone TOO FAR! Bunch o' self righteous, ignorant idiots have bought into the lies.
