What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

You can unbolt that bar under the pass seat and flip it upside down if you need more room to clear the sub to be able to move the seat back/forth.

 

I didn't know that. I saw some other posts that said people got away installing this sub with only half inch spacers and I couldn't figure out how they did it. Flipping that bar makes a ton of sense. It clears the sub with my current spacer setup and allows full range of movement, but if I can pull the spacers and still clear that would be great.

Nice. I’ve got a DSP under the passenger seat and Sound Ordinance Sub under the drivers seat. Initially Sound Ordinance was to be a temporary solution, but I just can’t justify the add of a downward firing sub box. It sounds great.
Where’d you put the DSP and what did you do for grill in the suicide doors?

 

I bought the audio control d4-800 for the primary amp, which has built in DSP. It sits under the driver's seat. Right now, it has big holes for the rear panels. I bought some thin black plastic sheets and some speaker cloth. I'm going to attempt to make a copy of what bassmechanic posted in his reply here:

So far I'm a little over 2 weeks into the upgrade working on it a few hours a night when I get home from the job.

 

Got my sons $100 BestBuy remote starter installed this weekend on the 2012 SR5. His, unlike mine, works off the Toyota factory fob. Had mine on the 2008 Off Road for nearly a month and love it. I just realized that, unlike all the more expensive ones seen on TW, these do not turn the truck off when you open the door. They only turn off by touching the brake pedal. It was always mentioned on TW that all Toyota vehicles with remote starts cut off when you open the door. I know my Fords never cut off when opening the door. Happy now that our family 3 Toyotas and 3 Fords have remote start. Now waiting on his dash kit to install his Atoto head unit. I could not be happier with my Atoto after 6 months of use.

 

Getting mine installed tomorrow.

First decent sized job in my own garage....

Let me say, don't buy cheap parts, and Jesus having the right tools ahead of time is useful

Having a good bench vice, and a good impact gun would have made this job a lot faster

Replaced my cheapo carrier bearing with an OEM one.

Replaced a u joint after I found some needle bearings after it was completely reassembled..

Total job time was about a day and a half with 3 trips (walks) to the auto parts store.

Sigh, hopefully I didn't screw up the balance

did those mirrors come stock or did you buy those aftermarket?

 

have a cheap bearing on my tacoma now squeaks, I've remedied it with some more grease, but soon as it starts again, I'm just going to do all my u-joints and new oem carrier bearing.

 

as far as I know they are stock, There was one previous owner with this truck so unless they changed them they are stock.

 

I think the price is much more now (bought 3 Black Friday weekend for $100 each).

oh, I'm all about the paint pen and Straight edge. done a few in my life was a Subaru tech and worked for Honda too, heck rebuilt my whole F350 suspension in my driveway. heck im the one who said id try a $27 center bearing for the science, think if id have gone extra wild with the wheel bearing grease it been fine, jsut put a coating, maybe even a set of "drop shims" see if that help
