I've owned this truck for a few months now, it has 69k on the odometer.

I'd characterize the ride quality as "floaty". It bothers me a little but my wife can't stand it as it makes her a little car sick on any trip over 45 minutes or so. I'd rather have the Tacoma as an option for some of our shorter trips in order to keep the miles off of her vehicle.

    Any advice? Shocks maybe?

    thanks!

Sounds like shocks. Sport suspension should be stiff.

strange, as mentioned, the Sport suspension is the stiffer option. I guess it could be worn, but with only 69k, I dunno. Of course shocks are cheap and easy to replace.

Oh, also make sure sway bar end links are good. I haven't seen it in decades, but way back when it was common for the ends links to rust through, thus leaving the sway bar innactive.

If you decide to replace, I would go and look for new takeoffs. You can get full replacement for $100 - $ 150 here, or FB.

Most OEM shocks are toast at that age and mileage.

The Sport suspension should be very firm, not the least bit floaty.

Perhaps the previous owner changed the shocks out.
The stock Sport shocks are Hitachi brand and are painted blue.

Thanks to all who replied. The truck definitely wasn't a cream puff, and I often wonder if it hasn't had a reprogram done. I don't think it has a leveling kit, it doesn't look like it to me. I'm not sure what to look for.

I've looked around and have not found any take offs.

If anyone can guide me to the correct parts to buy I'll just pick them up and have my local shop install them.

The shocks are probably aged out, but it's hard to describe the hitachis after they're worn. They just felt off, like slower on the rebound, to me.

I replaced mine with 6112/5160. If you want a sporty suspension and have the budget, that setup is sportier than the stock sport.

Thank you I think I'd go with something more stock. I have an Audi S class for sportin around. I just want it "normal" lol.

Where you located? I have a set, I took off my 18 sport, 90 miles on them. Complete front and rear shocks, Free... They are in St.Paul MN, only problem is I'm in Upper MI now, staying at cabin.

Well I used to live in Mendota Heights! And....a friend of mine just drove down last weekend...... I'm in south central Texas for the winter.

I'm happy to provide a shipping label if you would be kind enough to send them. I'll see if I can find a way to PM you.

EDIT: you have PMs turned off, feel free to message me
