running 265/75 R16’s. with @2” lift. want to go to 285’s next time but think ill rub. dont flex it much. mostly forest service and logging roads. rims are 16x8. 0 offset with 4.5 BS.

 

If you’re not into serious off-roading, 285’s are a waste of money. In both the cost and the loss of power. Until I upgraded the diff ratios for larger tires I had two sets, 265’s on factory wheels for daily and 285’s on pro wheel’s just for off-road use. Now I have 285’s for daily tires and 315’s for off-road wheeling.

 

Thanks. Several unseen support parts replaced as well. I figured why not, since the frame got replaced in 2015, she’s still doing well, and my daughter uses it for her DD.

 

what gear ratio did you go to?

 

I’m rubbing mud flaps in reverse at full turn . With 2.5 of lift . The Total Chaos UCAs help with adjustment on the rubbing so it would be worse without them .

 

I have been thinking about a smaller than 285 tire myself . Towing my travel trailer really sucks up the gas

I'm running 285/70/17s on Ray 10s 17×8.5.
Still running stock 3.73 gears. Really haven't noticed any loss of power.
Suspension is Dobinsons IMR shocks with Dobinsons coils in front. Rear is Headstrong 3 leaf progressive with stock leafs and Dobinsons IMR shocks.

 

Always loved your set up Dan. ive got 3leaf progressives on the rear with 5100’s and 5100’s up front on 1 7/8, not what id run if i was wheeling. mine is more of a redneck lift that will do alittle. but its for sure not a mall crawler if you saw my pin stripes. oh,did i tell you i backed into a tree hunting this year.I bent the bumper,bent it back straight but the dent in the chrome bumper will have to stay. my son was freaking out,im still giving it gas wondering why it stopped. LOL

 

I’ve got 4.56 gears now, just right for 35’s/315’s a bit overpowered for 33’s/285’s. Makes towing my tractor a bit easier.

If you have the space to stack a second set of tires. I think it’s the way to go. Get better fuel economy and less ware on the hubs with smaller tires. But have M/Ts for the fun trips.

Funny,,, I backed into a tree last year when I was with the WI TW folks. I got lucky because I backed into the trailer hitch reciever. I've got a few pin strips too, it adds character.

 

Having a KD Max tune makes my tire choices less of an issue I feel.

 

Was off today. Ran a second data line to the front bedroom for moving to a home office. I didn’t realize our network needs a separate line to the router for the phone and for the computer.
Got my workbench top back in the basement and planed. Now, to get started on the legs.
