I’m looking for a scooped Lunar Rock. I have a new non-scooped lunar rock hood and a black scooped hood. The black one will be going for painting soon if no one wants to trade. Will throw in cash as well. In the Phoenix area.

 

Did you get a quote for paint?

 

Maaco….$400. I’m sure that will look exactly like a $400 paint job.

Local paint shop with excellent reviews….$875. They were very friendly and I have a pretty good feeling about it. Not a bad price.

 

What about vinyl wrap?

 

I ordered samples and they look really good. The gloss is pretty close. Would be around $100 for the wrap. I’ve never done it but it is a pretty flat surface so that might not be too bad.

 

Oh nice! Yeah I have no idea how to do it but a lot of places would do it for you probably for less than 200 if you already have the vinyl

 

what color vinyl was the closest?

It isn’t perfect. I think if there was a break between the colors it would be hard to tell. I’m considering running matte black vinyl along the edges of the hood….just a 1/2” to 1” to create that small break. Not having the original paint up against the vinyl might work. I am also considering just paying a little more and getting the hood painted and maybe something custom with matte black around the scoop if it isn’t going to add too much to the price. If I’m building a truck I’m going to keep for a long time then might as well do it right.

Just a personal thought, but if you’re going to match paint, paint the whole thing, including scoop. It is far easier to apply a vinyl decal or replace scoop with pro (flat) or black (gloss) than it is to undo black painted sections. There are quite a few vinyl folks on here (@rrentrop is one). Personally, I’ve used @amirak but plenty to choose from. It’s really not that complicated if you have patience.

 

I’m still looking for a midnight black metallic scooped hood for my non scooped (with AVS low profile guard) around MD.
I can throw in oem off road suspension (front struts with coils, rear shocks and leaf packs 5K miles at take off), 30” Cali Raised single row light bar and some monies with the swap.

 

Not mine but south east PA super white scooped hood for 500+trade- I don’t think he’d want to swap for my black hood… tho I’m sure it would look good!

While I didn’t reach out to him, I think he wants a paint matched and wouldn’t be interested in a black one… wife also said not to think about it since it would be 500 for it before a wrap

That's my hood. It's a 10 out of 10. I want to trade for a color matched Super White non scooped hood. I have it listed thru Facebook Market Place and guys are showing up with hammered hoods. The last hood looked like he fixed it in a Pep boys parking lot.
