Super White Chipping

Any suggestions on how to prevent this from happening as much?

 

It's a failure below the surface. Nothing you can apply externally besides fully repainting will really prevent chipping or peeling.

Well, all the others too. I just did a fuller write up on my RAV work, because it demonstrates how complex the repair is and also shows how unfair Tacomas being excluded is.

 

Rumor has it that this was fixed back in 21, it we really won’t know for a few years. I know the 2017 have the problem and a few 2018, but haven’t heard of any 2019+ with the issue. That being said were a few years from knowing if it was truly improved or not

 

Going on 3.5 years with my white 19 and no issues. I do have the black vinyl on the B pillar so not sure if that helps.

My '16 started chipping off at the driver's door handle. I doubt TOYOTA will warranty it. And as always...

 

Yeah, I’ll stand up and be counted! 2019 peeling badly driver side rear door around window, a tiny bit on both front fenders where it meets the windshield, and one bedside near the cab. Took it in to Toyota. Dude says just wait until the Tacoma is added to recall. Highlander recently added. Super white?….

Wet Florida morning. Rear door. About 6” of white gone on the vertical down to the EDM primer behind the window. Check out the almost perfect sinusoidal crack in the (wet) white paint on the horizontal edge below the window.

All in all, a wel-rehearsed shit-show!!

 

The only way to prevent it is: Buy a different color.

 

Getting a different color is not an option. TOYOTA doing it right is lol!
