Oh nice, I don't actually have many pictures to go off of where folks are running stock suspension on 255/80s.

Knowing I have wider wheels...Im certainly curious how things will fit.

Very temporary at least given that coils are in my future, though I may need a new job if I'm going to make all this work too...

Planning out my first truck build is making my head spin. I read negative offset is not a great move with skinnies but I believe @LadyRed who started this was running 16x8 -10 with minimal rubbing on cab mount. I’m looking at some Black Rhinos that are 16x8 -10 with 4.11” backspacing which is enough to clear the UCA’s I’m looking at (JBA / Camburg). 16x8 with 0 offset should allow for sufficient backspacing as well, I think.

TLDR - need wheel recommendations to run with skinnies and do not want spacers. Who here is running 16x8’s that could chime in?? Thanks!

0 offset has been perfect for me and looks great. Have spc UCAs. Didn't need to do a chop

Did you fully cycle the suspension?

It's been off-road in ruts and rocks with this setup 3 times and about 70 miles of dirt. Hasn't rubbed yet. Never tried to fully cycle the suspension in the driveway. About 10k miles total driving

I have the same setup and it slightly rubbed the cab mount at full bump with the wheel turned. I did a quick chop and pinch weld fold and now it 100% clears everything. It also depends on wheel alignment alot.

Just a word of caution for others.

Maybe because 2nd gen vs 3rd gen @dirtnsmores @TacoTuesday603 ? I don’t mind minor trimming. At first I didn’t want to cut up my truck but now may just go full send and do a CMR who knows. The possibilities with these things are endless hence why I found myself in this rabbit hole

I believe he has a 2nd gen too. The rubbing of the cab mount for me was super minor and I probably didnt have to do it but the welder was right next to me so why not.

Well, I am back to report minimal rubbing with the below setup.

    Method 701 17x8.5 | 6x5.5 | 0/4.75" LT255/80R17 (33.31" x 10.04")

Alignment specs and ghetto pic of the skinnies that honestly don't feel all that skinny.

The only rub I get is about 4mm patch on the front fender liner and same on the rear (closest to the firewall).
I need to still cycle the suspension all the way to validate how much total rub there is, but I think a heat-gun will solve my problems without much trouble.

I did have minimum rubbing for my tolerance. Mostly in reverse at full lock and I did have the Toyo Open Country MTs, which are on the beefier side. With an alignment it was almost gone. Rubbing was SUPER noticeable again when I switched to 285/75 BFGs lol...I immediately missed having my 255/85s.

I am sure someone on here has the configuration you are interested in, or at least super close.

On a side note - I had a friend who ran JBA and LOVED them. I had Total Chaos but JBA was on my short list as well.

Oh sick, yeah I will say the first thing I noticed was the fact that the engine has to work a bit harder to get up and go on 33s even though they are skinny (10.2" wide). In a manual I feel like it's easier to manage, but I use to use 4th gear for 35/45MPH and now it's split.
3rd gear is for 35/40MPH and 4th gear is for 45/50MPH
RPMs aren't all that different, but the very next mod I do will probably be a re-gear as I want to be using all the gears (I'm kind of almost stuck using the lower gears now).

At least I have some time to figure out faze 2 which will be what final tire size I want to stay with, which dictates if I do a 4.88 or a 5.25 (I like to lean more towards lower gearing then higher based on how the truck has been pre-33's).

A stock Off-Road on 31's for comparison sake, does ok in 6th gear at 65, but the RPMs are kind of a tad high.
Usually, even if the speed limits are 80 around here, I've done 65-70 as anywhere above that and my MPGs tank from 22 to 19-ish(loaded or unloaded).
So what I found is with the stock setup/gears and stock tires, my limiting factor was largely the RPMs and the fact that I'm not super aerodynamic.

On paper, 4.88s with 33s are geared lower then how I was stock, so maybe that will compensate for heavier tires.

Anyway, just some thoughts as kind of process some of what I found out-loud.

Also for now, these are the contact patches of rubbing which seem to be pretty consistent/common for other folks too.
Some more and some less, depending on tire width and off-set.

Get tuned before you regear. It will make a big difference and you can still regear after if you feel you need it.

Never did get around to posting in here when I first put em on, so here’s a front shot for those on the fence. 255/85/16 Yokohama g003s.

This thread makes me head spin. There's so many choices of tire. I'm considering 255's or 265's but for a 17in wheel it looks like most tires jump from a 31.5" (265/70r17) to almost a 34" (265/80r17). Not seeing much of middle ground in more well known brands.
