I was driving to work this morning in the heavy rain and a Maxima rear ended me. This is how my Tacoma held up:
    IMG_1797_e48aff28d1fb85cbecfbb952316808556d2a1687.jpg
He did pop out one of my covers:
    IMG_1796_55ad51f297f2c439b9847e9acc75ad3435ce8006.jpg
And left some of his paint...:
    IMG_1795_d4100911ed826f0b329066fc9fbcdcc823937bae.jpg

This is how his car looked like after the accident (phone camera):

I'm glad the Tacoma can take a decent hit but I'm pretty pissed that the resale just dropped a bunch on my 08.

    Why did resale drop?

Looks all pretty cosmetic in the pictures, wouldn't think it would change the value much. Was there a police report?

Now you have an excuse to black out your bumpers!

No police report...he was a cool guy and lives down the block from me. We exchanged all of our information and it turns out he has the same insurance company as me, so hopefully that will speed things up when it comes to fixing if there are any damages underneath.

I am just ranting because it hasn't been a year with my truck yet..

Glad you and your truck are pretty much ok. That Nissan faired a lot worse than I would have expected.

No police report most likely means you're gonna be fine on the resale value. IF someone finds it on CarFax you can tell them "it was just a little paint swap, wasn't even enough damage to call the cops".

Bummer on getting hit in less than a year though.

The only problem is your insurance will require a police report unless it was on private property.

Besides, I would just have the guy pay for it without putting it through the insurance. There isn't much damage anyway and just goes to prove that I'm not nuts for wanting a tow hitch even though I don't tow.

Wow i wish i had pics of the pontiac g6 that slamed into me! My pumper has an identical scrape like yours and didnt even bend! The girls hood was into her windshield. I love these trucks! I got 1800 from her insurance company because the adjuster didnt know if the brackets were bent or not lol. Fixted the chip with tuch up paint and some wet sanding, you cant even tell. 2 Funy.

I called the police but they said it was not necessary because we didnt have any problems exchanging information...

I dunno if the guy can pay for all that damage to his car plus mines...plus I'm worried if there are any damages underneath.

And yes, you are not nuts. I have the tow package and I don't tow.

sorry it happened to your truck, but im pretty sure your truck underneath is gonna be just fine. those hitches are pretty stout. install a receiver bar with a ball in there...........that will really mess up the car that hits you!!

I sure hope my truck underneath is fine. I just snapped some more pics and his paint just came right off my bumper with my finger. It doesn't look like it damaged anything:

Just a scratch on the hitch cover and the nipple that covers 1 of the screws popped out. I am glad to know that this truck can take a decent hit! :)
