Yep, got that paper in the box.

But yeah it's a long ass cable and my setup will be small; take it this would be ok?

I do a "loose" sort of wrap as I'll never actually coil excess cable up.

Boss just bought a brand new Miller 252 with the spoolmatic spool gun. He’s never used a spool gun before so he asked me to come in and set it up.

It’s super cool. I like how you make wire feed adjustments on the bottom of the grip. Welds pretty nicely too after playing around and tuning it in a bit.

Same rig I got. The 30A unit works great for boat building.

We've got the same one hooked to the ole 250, I've been here 27+ years and the welder was here before me. The spoolgun came along about 20ish years ago.

Very nice. I have much difficulty achieving that little soot.

I was pretty surprised too haha. I just tried to push and aim the gas as best as I could and was surprised at the little amount of soot as well

I want to be able to weld aluminum.

So.... spool gun, argon, electrode positive and then it's not much different from MIG?

Point and shoot pretty much, it's pretty easy.

Easy to burn up the wire at the tip though, and some are more temperamental than others.

I bought a 30 pack of tips when I started aluminum. I fused 4 closed before I figured it out . Once you get used to using 2 hands on the heavier gun, it's not hard to figure it out.

Currently have 70/20 mix for mig. I just need a 100% argon bottle correct? No need to change regulator or anything?

Got me before I could edit....
Consumables (tips) should be the same as my regular mig setup too right?

My spoolgun has it's own tips; different size wire.

    Same.

You will need the tips that your spool gun uses.

Al welding required a tip that is slightly larger than the wire size you use. The drive wheels in the spool gun have small teeth that deform the wire, hence bigger tip diameter.

like @koditten and @Kwikvette said. The learning curve on the spool gun is pretty forgiving. Obviously aluminum is softer than steel so it behaves a little differently when you weld it. A few passes and you’ll understand. You’ll be welding aluminum in no time

Sucks the remainder of my stuff hasn't shipped yet so assembly can't happen until it's all here
