GF's company shuts down all Reno operations effective immediately - critical. Luckily she's remote so she's safe for now.

Kinda makes you think why EM don't want his jet tracked.

The moves he makes are gonna trigger the low thinkers.

I am a firm believer that all his moves are thoroughly thought out.

It's literally public information. Boo hoo for him. And no turning off your transponder either, that's a paddlin' and the FAA does not fuck around.

Smartest thing he coulda done was give the original kid a job interview like he wanted and the whole thing would have just gone away. Now his plane is being tracked across multiple sites viewed by tons of people.

I suppose he could start slumming it on NetJets or something

I still wonder if that entire issue was orchestrated.

by whom, to what end? To piss away $44b cause "reasons"?

I think there's a much simpler explanation. Ego and foot-in-mouth syndrome.

This has crossed my mind as well. If he has no interest in listening to his adviser's, then the outcome is fully on him.

You see it all the time with these ultra-mega rich people. Something in their brain snaps and they all seem to end up believing that they are somehow better/smarter/more informed than everyone else. Almost like they're doing the rest of us poors a service by announcing how the world should run.

Given the right set of circumstances, any one of us could have been elon. He's not particularly intelligent, and has bought his way into all of his successes. He's not even an engineer lol. To his credit, he's a good orator and hype-man, so he convinces other people with lots of money to jump on board with his schemes.

IMO, Tesla is about to get curb stomped by the major auto manufacturers relatively quickly. They're failing to continue to innovate, and simply cannot compete from a manufacturing standpoint against powerhouses like Ford or VW.
They had an early lead with their charging stations, but Europe is forcing that to all go to standard connections now, and the bulk of EV sales are still in Europe. What do Americans like to drive? Pick up trucks. Who can crank out thousands of EV trucks a month once they're tooled up? Ford. They will own the EV truck market whenever they're ready to do so, and Tesla still hasn't been able to roll out a cybertruck to a customer.

There's one final point I'd like to make, but it treads the line on political so alas I'll have to just let that go.

No, like "we're done with our reno operations and they're closed" Probably a hundred or so layoffs? Moving all the equipment to Dallas. No more west coast ops for their company.

    Block was a snowmobile
    Renner was snowcat
And I fell down taking the trash to the curb, but sustained nothing more than a bruised asscheek

2023 is a bad year so far for snow machines

All I know is that whenever I slip in snow/Ice...arms in tight, tuck your chin to your chest and land on your ass first if you can...and then shoulder...Same move saved me when I was on the illegal step of a 6 foot step ladder and didn't realize one of the feet was over a chipmunk tunnel...and I was working around a chimney. Got to the top of it, balancing so my arms are 12ft in the air and the thing collapses sideways and I'm falling straight for the concrete base of the chimney...I manage to tuck my chin and curl up to avoid the concrete. I just missed it but crushed my AC Joint. It made a crunch like a Styrofoam take out box. It was at least 6 weeks until I could do ONE push up when I was doing sets of 30 at the time..fucking chipmunks..

Oh and there was a body dent in the ground you could have poured a plaster cast in

Yep. Utilize the squishy parts of the body when at all possible. reaching out with a hand is a surefire way to get a broken wrist. I'm not stopping 170lbs of me falling with one spindly wrist. I've got ass fat, I'll use that and hopefully not smash my head against the concrete.

Aircraft owners can have it blocked, however. I have a friend with a single-engine plane. He got tired of his ex-wife asking him questions about his travels. He had it blocked. Costs a small amount, I guess, but worth the peace of mind.

I'd be interested to learn more about that. If that was true, every billionaire would have their planes off of ADSB. There's gotta be some sort of nuanced rule for small planes or something.

And older planes were/are ADSB exempt until very recently. That might be what you were thinking of?

I think there's also potentially a rule about VFR vs IFR flying too. And if the aircraft is certified for commercial operations carrying passengers.

Not a pilot, just an enthusiast

you do this in this thread all the time and you're not poor or mega rich lol

not wrong about the rest tho. Toyota through the decades has made the best jab at the US vehicle market with their small trucks (and corollas) and they still don't hold a candle to the big 3 except tacomas
