I do remember, strangely enough, that Sean's dad had a late 1970s or early 1980s Toyota 4x4; I was just as obsessed with trucks twenty years ago as I am now, while Sean didn't care about vehicles. I annoyed Sean with repeated questions about his dad's truck, and by the beginning of 7th grade he wanted nothing to do with me. Funny how he was annoyed by the fact that I was obsessed with cars, and he was busted two years ago for looking at media depicting sec acts on girls as young as 4 years old...

I forgot about Jon Burger, who stole sixty bucks out of my dad's wallet in February 2001 and the last I heard is in prison for raping his twin sister; I knew that Jon was troubled, but I didn't think he was capable of that. Looking back on it, he displayed classic sociopathic traits. He was born in 1990 (so a year younger than me), and while he wasn't violent, he was just emotionless and didn't seem to give a shit about anything.

Sometimes good people make bad decisions.

I have plenty of friends that have made bad decisions, and their record shows it.
And yes, you read that right. They are friends.

One is still in prison. (He just can’t seem to follow the stipulation set by probation)

No, none of them have a sexual crimes on their record.
I will not associate with those people. EVER

When I was in school this one dude was the most annoying dickhead, l would have voted him as most likely to end up in prison. Guy ended up stumbling into a good situation after high school and ending up a millionare.

Nobody in my inner circle has a criminal record, though some of my friends were arrested for stupid shit when they were teenagers and college students; I also do not know for sure if Jon went to prison for raping his sisters. That is secondhand information that I got from another friend, and I haven't been able to find anything online about it...

I like this one as well. Sensible roof line, nice floor plan and you could easily make the garage wider (during construction) if desired.

Energy efficiency is a total of all the building systems.
Most folks who can afford a million dollar home got there by watching their dollars closely.

Your water heater accounts for an average of 17% of residential energy use.
If you have municipal water and sewer often the sewer charge is proportional to the water consumption,
therefore you pay twice for wasting it once.

Over 20 or 30 years of living in a water inefficient house can add up to a lot of money you could use for other things.

My sewer is almost 2x the water.
    Just paid it today.

27 units of water was $26
27 units of sewer was $46

One property is a flat fee another in a neighboring town is tied to the water consumption like yours.

    Want to hear something crazy.
My grandparents had well and septic.
When they finally ran public water out there, they hooked to the water.
They kept septic as sewer wasn’t available at the time.

Well, now that sewer is available, and they are being told as of 1 Jan 2023 they will be charged sewer even if they are not on public sewer. Why? Because they are with 500’ of the sewer line. I don’t know how this is even legal?
But we are working on figuring it out. We will even have the septic system inspected if that what it takes.
Because there is no reason they should have to tap on public sewer, or be charged for it. They aren’t using it???

My water and sewer are 2 separate entities.
    Totally different companies.
Water company reports to sewer company.
And you better believe I check that the number match.
Because paying 2x for sewer is stupid.

FWIW, it is normal for sewer to be 2x the water in Tennessee.
But I can’t figure out why it’s that much higher?

To be clear when I say 2x.
I mean the price is double the rate of water.
Not that I am paying it 2x.

    Unfortunately, the older I get.
The more I am accepting it.
The fight just isn’t in me anymore.

I like to keep things simple.
And simple is not the norm any longer.
My head hurts trying to understand the “Idocracy”.

Sure it is legal - they passed a local ordinance making it a law.

The sewer bill probably varies by diet. If you've got a bunch of hard-partying college students living in a duplex with two 3-bedroom units, then between the pooping and the puking, the sewage bill is probably going to pretty expensive. One person could probably rack up a pretty impressive sewer bill if they ate nothing but Taco Bell for a week...

Pass a law to get “citizens” to pay out more money?
    Blasphemy……..

I bet it was for the better good of the environment.
You know, those nasty septics systems. Contaminating the ground and all.
It had nothing to do with “the money”.

    I don’t know?
Admittedly, my knowledge on the process of making water potable is lacking.

Based off the sewer bill, I’d assume it takes more work to make sewer water “clean” enough to dump back in the local waterways.
I don’t know if they have to meet “potable” standards?
    But I doubt it.

I guess I am complaining, but “it is, what it is”.

In a water treatment plant the day to day operation costs and the cost to keep the plant current are much higher than for the water supply.

If we consider the piping systems to be about equal (although the sewer is larger) the water supply side is really just pumps, filters and water treatment. If it wears out the items can be repaired or replaced as it is mostly mechanical, the basic system remains the same.

A sewer treatment plant on the other hand is an expensive business to operate. There is so much more equipment and so much process going on with a lot of electronics. The mechanical side is subject to very heavy wear and the electronics become obsolete, this equipment needs to be upgraded not just repaired.

You might say there is a lot of shit going on in the sewer treatment plant - sorry, I just couldn't resist it.

Kinda like in California where they charge a smog abatement fee to owners of electric vehicles who thought that buying a Tesla would get them out of paying for smog testing every two years...
