Has anyone put grip tape onto standing surfaces? Does it cause rust?

Sometimes I stand on my tree savers and they're pretty slippery otherwise. Or even the top of the rear bumper itself.
I can't think of a reason not to add it, plus it could look cool
Unless for some reason you need to grab on the tree saver and shake the back of the truck up and down without gloves, which IDK a reason to

then again if it does wear out one day, trying to peel the tape off could rip off powdercoat

I know some people put it on the sliders but that I wouldn't do, probably because it's own to grab and abrade your pants getting in/out the truck

I put it on my sliders. Then if it wears off, i paint and put more. Better than sliding when trying to get into the truck

    100% agree.

I’ll take a little rust over a busted shin any day:thumbsup:

That's a good idea. I have used it on skateboards I custom made. I made some cool designs with it.
Shouldn't pull the powdercoat off. Try to get the 3M stuff. Nice truck BTW :)

You can buy pool side type grip tape that isn’t sandpaper but more of a textured rubbery surface.

If you were considering it, please do not buy skateboard grip for outdoor use - it isn’t designed for that and you will be sorely disappointed sooner than later. I’ve owned a few skate shops and skated my entire life. Board grip is designed for incredibly intense use in a super short amount of time. There are better long term solutions available.

3M makes some solid products, but @JdevTac has the right idea with the water resistant/proof poolside rubber grips.

To answer more directly - if you haven’t powder coated the armor already, I’d rattle can it black. If you’re in the need of grip, you’re likely using your vehicle enough to get chips or dings anyway. Goo Gone for the leftover adhesive, a light sand, and a coat of spray paint once per year should be more than plenty.

Best of luck with whatever you decide!

I put sand in the paint. It becomes the grip tape. Works really well under a layer of epoxy resin.
