It was "insurance". I was testing it out and didn't want belt slip. Plus it looked solid and sold me when @BillDaCat8 fabbed his but IIRC he was using a stock tensioner at the time. I like adding shiny parts hah. Probably read into your guy's early posts and jumped the gun as I was still building my setup. I didn't know how tight the belt should have been but 2.7 with the Roush seems like a sweet spot for me and everyone else running similar. That Steeda billet sounds even better but no more problems ATM so I'm just going to shuddup

yah I hear ya. I was almost going to do it just like you and add the wrap but held off. I only have a 2.8 but was going to go down to a 2.5 but may drop it down to a 2.7 but would have it without the wrap mod but do have the RPM belt. the green one for me cut fine but started to frey and had almost skipped off the S/C Crank pulley but caught it in time.

If you or @XPOTRPR want to test out the wrap mod, you can borrow mine before you shell out a couple bucks and spend the time cutting one down. For the low low cost of shipping lol.

    parts and stuff
That’s terrible. I’ve spent about 9k on two engine replacements. And that’s cuz of adding new parts that did t have anything to do with the engine.

    My shit is all stock.
Rob is correct. I was trying to say that I’m running the “original” TRD tensioner pulley that came in the blower kit.

When I went to the Roush tensioner, IIRC, I flipped that pulley to get the alignment better with the belt. It does ride on the edge, but, the belt is fully supported.

As for the RPM belt, I’m a big fan. It still looks good after 10k miles or so. It’s said to be less forgiving and therefore harder on bearings and such. To quote Mr. Skywalker, “I am not afraid”. The tensioner is referred to as a “dynamic tensioner” for a reason.

geez. Star Wars quotes? Maybe I shouldn’t post while I’m having my morning double espresso eh?

Remind me - was the install bad or just overpriced install in your opinion?

I still have my gears sitting here waiting for me to tear into the engine.
