It doesn't have to be a particularly hard hit either. Just a matter of the "right" place and time as in where during the cardiac cycle it happened.

11.....6? V, it's somewhere near that - I THINK it's 11.6, might be .8 or .5. Either way, below 12. I am less suspect about the dash cam killing it, considering how much juice it had (and by "how much" I mean, the glass is half empty, my lights wouldn't even turn on) - I think the dash cam is not the culprit. I go 1.5 miles to work each way and hardly get it over 1.5k RPM, let alone 2k for charging the battery. Might have to reroute my morning commute to add some mileage :( (when I drive the truck, the bike is fine  )

But, it's a genuine selling point to looking at a mini electric car or something.

Very unfortunate. I finally found an article that explained what actually happened. First one I read made it sound like a plow truck incident.

The article I read mentioned that the machine was not supposed to be able to do what it did. I could not find a clear "this is what happened" account of the incident. I am sure it will come out. It is about a celebrity after all.

Article I found said a safety mechanism failed and allowed the vehicle to roll backwards and it ran him over. I'm wondering if the failed safety mechanism was a failure to apply the parking brake but they didn't go into any detail on the incident. Hopefully he recovers, tourniquets are scary with what they can do to your body.

Yep, happened to my Mom except with a Camry. Went to put the car in park and only made it to reverse. She opened the door to get out and the car started backwards and knocked her over half in and half out of the car. Dragged her 25 feet and only stopped when her foot swung in the path of the tire. Tib Fib fracture and dislocation at 81 years old. The rest of the story gets complicated quick so I will end it there. She is fine now and did have a full recovery.

Which just exacerbates the root cause, unfortunately..if we knew then..

I'd be shocked if that was it, my cam has stayed on all night and zero effect on the starting. Plus in parking mode it has a draw that's so minimal it would take several days at least.

Yeah I'm leaning toward that too. There's a 60$ solar + MPPT trickle charger on Amazon I can scale up to 120W if/when I put in a fridge - just slap a bigger panel on. Will probably do that. My ride to work is 6 minutes and <1.5k RPM for probably half of that - she ain't chargin'! And some quick math says the trickle charger will be more cost effective than taking the longer route within 12 months - assuming I ride my bike HALF the year, which seems generous but might not be.

This talks of desks at work - here's what I'm working with (on the lock screen so I don't give anything away  )

The standing desk takes up a TON of space, but I don't not use it - could probably do without it just fine but I'm not complaining.

My son has one of those in his home office. I used it a few times when my wife and I were down there watching the grand kids. Of course I sat. :-)

He has a docking station for his laptop and a 43" monitor. Which he can split into two screens.

The delay on AED and 9 minutes of CPR make me apprehensive about his prognosis. He very well could make a full recovery, like the soccer player.

His foundation shot from like $2,500 to 5.5mil in like 24h. That sort of thing is nice to see, people trying to help in their own way.

    Hope everyone’s been well.

I didn't see the entire sequence of events, but it didn't seem like an inordinate delay. I would expect that thier was an AED on he sidelines and they didn't have to wait for the medics to bring their cardiac monitor/defibrillator/pacemaker/BP monitor/O2 sat monitor to arrive.

True but the vessel is 6 years old and (I'm guessing) still original battery. In our climate I always figure on 4-5 years from a 5 year battery in general. Granted mine lasted 10 years almost...

2020 - the 2016 I listed is my bicycle

But, yeah I am on a 5 year plan on my batteries around here too. I want this one to last until I go for a fridge, which would be.... 2025. o_O

I think it was this thread where I mentioned that my wife's Highlander needs new front tires. Someone mentioned that Town Fair will not sell two tires for AWD vehicles. I stopped in to my local Town Fair and spoke with the manager. They will sell only two, but require the customer to sign a waiver. He also said that they could probably match the brand of the tires, but since they are Goodyear Assurance and we're replacing the Highlander in the spring i'm not sure I want to spend that much on the tires.

I replaced the battery on my wife’s 2017 4Runner today. Holy shit are batteries expensive now. $260 for a Diehard Platinum at Advance. Remember when batteries were around $120 just a few years ago. WTF!

    .....YUP.

When mine cooks it's gonna be 350-400. Assuming I end up with a fridge.

But that's a lot cheaper than over a grand for a second battery setup, AND needing the first battery still too.

    Reminds me of this:

I remember when batteries were $45.00! More than a few years ago, though.
