I use my sliders for that but this is safer. Another win for the gear tunnel hatch.

I don't know how smart it would be. It would make more sense for the big boys to buy-out a small company that wasn't going down, why buy something that they would have to absorb as a loss? Not to mention being liable for every Rivian sold.

Of course no mention of what they actually did well at. They built over 25k vehicles but not all completed post production WC work to qualify as “produced”. No mention that production rate has increased about 25% per quarter. It’s no surprise to anyone that knows business that a new startup is losing money but that doesn’t make for good clickbait articles.

I predict in less than 3 months I'll be posting another quoted "told ya so".

"...Rivian cannot win. Its sales are too small, its backorder count is meaningless, and the market has started to fill up with competition...Rivian had its chance, particularly a year ago. Management bungled that and cost Rivian its future...."

But they'd be getting the building with assembly line and workers etc. It would be a turnkey purchase.

I guess time will tell if anyone wants to take that chance. But I guess I don't know since I'm not "anyone that knows business". In the meantime, I'll just listen to you geniuses who own Rivians.

Rivian doesn't even want their building and assembly line, aren't they trying to relocate from Illinois to a yet to be built factory in Georgia?

Yep, 10 years to get a single profitable quarter and 17 years straight before a year with all profitable quarters.

No, they are planning on building a second factory to expand production.

That’s to increase manufacturing not relocate it.

Fair enough. I didn't think they'd need 2 plants going if the new one is supposed to have capacity for something like 400k a year.

The last number I saw was a capacity at the IL factory of 150k with potential to grow to 200k. The GA factory is supposed to be a 200k production line as well. The GA factory completion timeline coincides with when Rivian plans to start producing the R2 line of vehicles so it might be logical to assume they will be built there while the R1 and EDV lines stay in IL.

Rivian seems to think they'll be making 400k a year in the Georgia plant.

Take out the carbon credit sales and they're still not profitable as an EV maker.......
