He made the YZ250 2stroke look good at RBSR. So maybe that will give an extra nudge for Yamaha to be willing to give him some extra help, if he signs with ClubMX. Who knows lol.

What’s the deal with this new Super Motocross Championship? Seems goofy to me. I like Supercross and Motocross as two separate series. Is this to keep riders from only riding Supercross?

Can anyone confirm whether or not Haiden Deegan will be racing 250f supercross in 2023? I thought I heard Brian say he was going to hold back another year on their YouTube channel, but I'm not sure.

To sort of break it down in previous year's AMA SX and MX are opperated by 2 different promoters and went about business as such. Over the years there has been almost conflict between the 2 and they worked against each other more than with each other. Around 19 or 20 there became talks to change that a little bit (for various reasons.) So now they are working together to present both AMA SX and MX as 1 product. So that means same TV deal for everything and it is presented as 1 big season to try and get better sponsors, tv deal, exposure etc. The creation of WSX also got this fast-tracked the AMA series to get this going because to some degree WSX threatens both AMA SX and MX in some ways. So in doing this, Feld and MX Sports worked with the American Factory teams to try to keep USA-based teams here and supporting both series by their riders.

As of right now, there has been nothing official on him racing SX. He is supposed to at least start the year racing "SX Futures" and start his pro career full-time in the Nationals. But there is a possibility that he could debut in SX before that.

Just can’t wait to see Tomac race both series. Only way I see him not racing the outdoor series is if he gets hurt.

He said in his interview on NBCs preseason show that he’s only doing Supercross. The whole show was hyping up the new combined championship and the best rider isn’t even doing it. It seems lame to me. It’s just combining the scores from the too series and adding 3 playoff races at the end. Do any of the riders really want this?

Very unlikely Tomac does both series.

Tomac being at his stage of his career is out of the control of the promoters. This decision was made, big picture for the health of both series. There is more purse money involved and better tv exposure for sponsors etc. So while it might not be anything exciting on the surface, it's great for the health of the sport here in the USA.

Supermotocross also combines points from both indoor and outdoors series to crown a Champ in the final "playoffs" at the end of the year.

I'm excited that there is going to be good tv coverage this year. Mx is usually a mess when it comes to trying to view

Yes, I know he signed for supercross only. But with that much money on the line if he is doing good in supercross I don’t see anyway he doesn’t race both series. He even hinted in his interview that there is no telling if he will race the outdoors series.

Sure there is always a possibility but I stand by what I said. It's very unlikely. Someone that high profile has a lot that goes along with them. If his intentions were to do SX only, the team can't just wait around until May and then make decisions based on what he feels like. They likely already have his spot planned to be filled by the next guy, which would mean that staff and money goes elsewhere. They are already full with Cooper pointing out of 250SX and they are fielding him on a 450 for a few rounds, to let him feel it out, before returning to 250s for outdoors. That is the first time I've ever seen a team pay a guy to basically sit out, so they can retain him for the future. Basically they didn't want to let Cooper get away because they plan on Eli only being on this team for SX and then they part ways.

Somebody that high profile can do whatever the heck they want to do. Not saying Yamaha isn’t going to have a plan either way but he will have a spot if he wants a spot.

That wasn't my point. I think it's more that if he seriously was going to take a run at the long season, the team probably would know going in. He likely doesn't make that decision in April or May. And they prepare accordingly. Also, the reason he is stepping away is the grind, specifically outdoors. So to even make the full year, plus Supermotocross worth his time, he would be committing to a season-long grind. I just don't think that is going to happen based on everything that has transpired. I'm not sure 100% on the qualifications but He might be able to somehow qualify for the "playoff" just based on his SX results (like if he wins the title or something) and skip Outdoors and then run the final SMX races. That I could see happening, if it's possible. But him doing 26-some races this season seems very unlikely.

That will be nice if it’s all on NBC or Peacock.

Definitely. If Tomac decides he wants to race then Yamaha or someone else is going to give him a bike immediately.

It sounds like this new season is from January til October. Doesn’t that seem late a long time? Do any other pro sports have a season that long, especially one so prone to injury like MX? I think the winner may just be whoever doesn’t get injured not necessarily who is the best rider. Unless almost everyone gets into the playoffs in which case it really becomes a three race championship.

Well again, I'm not saying it can't happen but based on everything big picture it's more than likely not going to. Not saying what I say is the law but I do a portion of his merch, so I am not just pulling this stuff out of thin air.
