Gotta say...glad we picked up this tractor. Did find out its on real "flaw"....the hydraulics DO NOT like to work when its below 0 lol. I dont blame them though as thats just a general hydraulic thing more than the tractor.

Did look into getting chains for it as it did slide a bit when at the edges ofe the road but man they want a ton of money for them!

I’m sure built chains probably cost a fortune, but I think you could probably build them yourself for less. Patrol the chain off removal area of your nearest highway, you’ll likely find a bunch of broken chains that can be pieced together to fit the tractor.

Absurd how expensive this tire chains are. I did the same thing recently when I looked for chains, wild prices!

Many on the JD forum and I’m sure other brands have been grooving their R4s for better traction. Everyone says the results are worth the effort.

Id seen that. Done it before on other tires and was never super impressed with it. Im talking more "side" hill slipping than straight too. It did just fine going straight or in reverse through the snow. Just when it would get up on any sort of "side hill" tended to slip sideways

Definitely not prepared for that wallet shock. As a new homeowner with new machinery, you really gotta pay to play with the big boy toys.

I want the tires, but I’m not looking forward to buying them. I don’t know if they are much more expensive than the R4 tires, but I think they will be worth the money. However, I won’t be buying them until my current R4 tires are all used up.

hey fellas- to the one that advised the noco charger, thank you! question about it (as i burned the manual like a man) if it has the pulsing red light indicating charging, is it obvious when its at full charge? my yota is in the shop with a potentially blown motor and im trying to hurry to get my other truck running.
after 2hrs i tested it and im near full charge. this little charger kicks ass!

Try a Google search with the model of the charger you purchased and manual in the search terms and you should find the manual online.

I have a different Noco charger, but I think it should turn solid when it’s done. But you can likely find the manual on there website.

If the fuel is old sometimes they won't run very well until the engine is warm.

If you have the Genius 1 charger it is only a 1 amp unit, it will take a long time (around 60 hours) to go from dead to fully charged.

If you can run the engine for a while the alternator is much more powerful obviously, it will get the bulk of the energy back in the battery, then put the charger back on and leave it overnight or longer if possible.

Did long delayed full maintenance on my Gravely. First I cleaned it. Filthy.

Uh oh, blades were not salvageable. So may as well do all I can along with blades. New replacement grass chute, new belt, oil and filters, plugs. Foam sock for AF. Leveled the deck.

I have to say I beat on this thing pretty hard. Used for clearing 5 foot common tansy. Other tall brush. I've hit more rocks and holes and sand mounds and 3" branches and 10" stumps than I can count. I guess the good news is the property is much more tame now. Life for the beast may be easier. Hhahahhahaha
