My parents financed their house, but they put over 20% down and their mortgage rate is only 3%. My dad could have easily paid cash for the Tacoma, but he got a 3-year loan at 0.9% APR and that was too good to pass up. Actually, it might have been five years, but he paid it off in three years; I remember the day the title came in the mail! I would prefer not to have a mortgage in this market, but very few people can actually afford to pay cash for a house. If I hit the lottery and became a millionaire overnight, I would pay cash for a 3-bedroom rancher because I don't really want to have a big house unless I have a big family...

 

How did he get rich?

I made payments on my truck because the money I had in a CD was making more than the .9% interest charge.
The CD was around 2.7% or so. Plus, drawing it out early gets you penalized.

I was ahead by making payment and not paying cash.

 

My buddy that went to one of the reunions told me he answered a "Want Ad" in the Pennysaver. Some guy was starting some kind of vending machine company and couldn't afford to pay him much to work but promised if the company ever became successful that he would take care of him.

 

Goddamn COVID outbreak at work, so I'm staying home for I don't know how long. Like five people have it already...

 

I guess you get an unplanned vacation for a few days.

 

I hope they don't start pushing that again.

I am now the proud owner of my late friend Jim's model 1961 Porsche 356!

 

Unfortunately, it came to me damaged...

 

I halfassedly put the spare on for the pictures, but the regular tire got damaged at some point in the last few months before Helen gave me the car...

 

Fortunately, I found the same model in a less attractive color and clearly missing parts for twenty bucks, so I snapped it up as a donor car for Jim's 356...

 

And now I'm going to have to replace the trunk insert with the one from the donor car because that little thing that hold the spare in snapped off...

 

Except me haha

 

Fixing up the car is dedication. Nice.
