Thanks! Something about a revolver. Old school, but I love that about them.

9mm would be pretty handy in a revolver didn't know they had them. Generally I practice with 38 as 357 is pretty snappy. I got a Taurus 605 (.38/357) I am going to sell.

Yeah, that trigger is impressive. This is my first Kimber, I was a little relunctant to drop that much on one, but after I did a little research I changed my mind and ran up to the store and bought it.

Yeah once I saw that 905 in 9mm I knew that would be a good one. I didn’t know they made it chambered like that either until I stumbled across it. I like my Taurus pistols and have tons of 9mm ammo so it’s a purchase I have in mind down the road for sure.

Small ammo order needed some more HST for zeroing now that I've made some red dot changes on the pistols. 5.56 was just to get me to the free shipping threshold

Hornady digital scale came in. I got lucky a while back and was able to grab a little over 1000 Berger 6.5 CM 140 gr hybrid target rounds for super cheap while they shoot great 1/2 moa zero they do have some e/s and sd inconsistencies so I'm hoping weight sorting them will tighten that up for improved long range consistency.

After decades of watching really good F class shooters go back and forth on weight and volume sorting, as well as trying myself, the time it takes to do it vs the measurable gains in doing so is pretty much a wash.

An accurate throw, and neck tension and a uniform case mount will have more effect on ES. SD will be more effected by jump and jamb.

    Hmm interesting.

Even with a weight spread across the first 50 I tested being about 2 grains from low to high you don't think it will result in a beneficial gain by weight sorting?

I ask because I do value your opinion on this stuff given what I think you background is

To be fair my mil and gov experience doesn’t really apply to this. I speak through my experience as a competitor albeit is questionable too regarding reloading. Specifically in F class (1000y) because that’s where it shows the most and there are guys who can make loads that shoot in extremely small groups. I hate F class.

That’s actually why I mentioned it outside the reloading thread. I and others have wasted hours sorting and chasing that BR level accuracy, just to find out when I was sorting I was doing it wrong. I’m trying to keep this short and dirty, so I’ll link this video where David Tubb explains his (general) (quick) process. He sorts brass but notice how he doesn’t mention anything about accuracy for it. https://youtu.be/qP4PBnX6cZ8

And for bullets…here you have two of the best shooters in the world, the guy behind the camera and Bryan Litz. That way I’m not writing over 6 paragraphs.

I've sorted projectiles by weight, but that usually just means I've bought a batch of shitty projectiles (pulls, blem). Brass, only headstamp. You could also do water vol of brass if you really have excess free time. I wouldnt bother sorting factory rounds by weight because I dont know what I'm attributing the weight difference to. Plus, well, it's still factory ammo.... I also wouldnt bother sorting anything with a cheap digital scale. With quality projectiles you can stick them on a 5-0-5 balance and sort them according to whether the needle sits on top or bottom of the zero marker line. Probably way less than a 10th of a grain.

I definitely agree about the scale. Ohuas or rcbs 505 (same shit) is really a good mechanical way to check your electronic scale. A good electronic one cost a lot of money. Like any hobby, people who want accuracy or to move to the next level learn to hate money. Even so, I’m always concerned about drift.

Anyone have a go to place for spare magazines?
I did the google search and was a little overwhelmed and not familiar with any of the sites.

Not glamorous, but a stone reliable little piece for what it is. Paint the front sight and go! I'll grab mine over some safe queens more times than not when heading out the door. As for mags, Ruger's damn proud of 'em that's for sure, but they're robust & work. An extended version is also available, congrats!

Which one would you buy, Atlas Nyx or a Staccato P?

Those were a game changer for me. Not having to keep taking my hearing protection off to hear people talk was great.
