    Happy new year.

I had some fun and picked up 2 Vertex sprocket on Amazon pretty cheap. Also got a Harbor Freight rear stand for $50. Just got done swapping the sprockets. Left the 525 OEM chain in since it is still new. Took a ride and the swap gave some power in the lower part of the tach. Next up is shipping my ecu to get flashed and maybe rear sets and done

Track day registration is open for ‘23 now. There is some days at Carolina motor park in July I am looking at.

Nice, what vortex set up did you go with? Down on up front and +2 rear? No need to switch the chain up until its worn more and you can switch to a 520 conversion to save some weight. Bike should wheelie 1st gear pretty easily now.

The stock brakes and showa suspension are good for just about any rider/track day. Only thing to change is the crap throttle which is too long and painful on the wrist. the Motionpro is well worth the expense.

Who are you sending the ecu to? Moore mafia or Bauce racing? I have the bauce tune on my 2018 $250, its slightly noticeable, mostly did so it doesn't run lean and pop the motor with the cat delete. It will remove the exhaust flapper valve, run better and doesn't smell like a rich/overly gassy* tune. For the track definitely throw on some case savers and axle sliders if you take a spill the day doesn't need to be over.

I went for a delayed new year ride (33-34 degrees but sunny for the first time in weeks) and got 4 murals in. I think I got most of what Pullman has, so it'll definitely go up in difficulty from here.

Went out today and got 2 murals myself just didn't get them off memory card yet. On your photo with your placard held by your tail bag the top number is partly obscured. Some rallies could disallow that so please be careful that your rider number is always plainly visible. Personally I would allow it because zoomed in you can tell what it is. Nice way to start an event!

Thanks for the heads up, I have another pic from that location where it's more visible if it's an issue come judgement day, but regardless I'll be more careful next time!

What's best practice for organizing everything? I started a google drive folder specific to it so I can upload direct from my phone and rename in there. Also started a spreadsheet with dates, locations, and file names to help keep myself straight. The way I read the rules made it seem like that's perfectly acceptable? I don't know if I'm missing a "oh duh" way of organizing that's easier though.

My plans are to go to the dealership this coming Saturday and actually see my new bike! I'm so excited. I need to get a copy of the deal to take to my credit union for the financing. I actually cleared a space in the garage for it today, lol.

You're definitely on the right track. I use Smugmug for photo hosting for forums so I'll just create an album there. I don't use my phone I use a regular digital camera and memory card. My camera actually has GPS so I just turn that on and it puts coordinates in the digital picture file making it easier for me to remember where a photo was taken.

Spreadsheet is always a great idea. I had to make one for our Lighthouse Challenge to assist the person scoring it. The 2 I got today I hadn't even bothered putting in Basecamp or my GPS. Each was less than 8 miles from my house but in opposite directions.

Hoping some of this packed ice on the side roads melts off so I can pick up my bike later this week after the dealer replaces the front rotors(free of charge since I found out they were warped on my first ride off the dealer lot). I have no idea how they didn't catch this when they did the 15K mile factory service and put on new tires :notsure:

Because they pencil whipped it and didn't actually do anything but a quick oil drain and fill. Finding a mechanic that actually does the work is about like finding a unicorn.

It’s a huge loss to the car community, there hasn’t been anyone in my lifetime that connected all genres of the car scene like he did.
We’ve been doing it for Dale but now we’ll be doing it for Dale and 43.

My first pics for the mural event I posted about.

Goldsboro, PA borough office. Three Mile Island nuclear plant is only about 100 yards across the river from where this was taken.

Better pic that shows more but my rider number isn't legible. I will submit the first pic for scoring. Posted this so the others here doing the event can see the sort of thing that can cost you points at scoring.

This is the truth in sadly too many cases. Several years back a friend was looking for a Yamaha FJR1300 like mine and we found him one at a local dealer, 2007 just like mine. He asked me to go along and look it over so on the way up I left him ride my bike and I rode his BMW loaner bike. We looked the bike over and it looked decent enough with just normal wear and tear I would expect on a 6- or 7-year-old bike. He signed off all the release papers to take it for a test ride and I followed him on my bike. We didn't make it 2 miles when he pulled over and told me something was wrong with it. Whenever he shifted into second gear it would pop out of gear within a very short distance. We took it back and I asked if I could ride it, so I filled out a release and then I took it out. I knew the first time I hit second gear this bike had a bent shift fork and worn gear dogs on the second gear set. This is not a huge issue with the FJR but there have been enough cases that it is something to be aware of. I can guarantee you that when they took this bike in on trade no one rode it out of the parking lot so they never caught it. I told them what the problem was, and they would need to pull the engine, split the cases, and replace second gear and the related parts. They were NOT happy and obviously lost the sale. That bike stayed there for months and I have no clue what finally became of it but they were not going to make the money they hoped in light of the needed repairs.

Yup. But I'm sure they sell all the used bikes with a million point inspections so you can "buy with confidence" or some other such tripe. Heck, people get oil changes done on vehicles and the lube techs don't even change the filters, sometimes. I hate mechanic work, but I'm starting to learn it because I can't afford for some slack ass to ruin my stuff!

I literally have white take offs from my DRZ. I spray painted one and they are scratched up but the paint will easily come off. Yours for the cost of shipping if you want to see how it looks. I can probably even goof off the spray paint.
