Hey Guys, I just bought a 2019 trd pro. It has a sluggish response when you hit the accelerator. Also, it always sounds like the transmission is running in a low gear. Is this normal?

It looks like you’ve owned this for a few months, did it always drive this way or start recently? To where you think something is wrong?

    Same here.

Curious too if it’s a newer development or not.

Yes, I'm in nola. I bought the truck at an auction so I didn't get a test drive. It's driven like this since I've had it. I had the rack and pinion changed at the neighborhood shop and the mechanic noticed the poor response. He changed the mass air flow sensor. It drove better for one day then went back to the sounding like it's in low gear.

What do you mean it sounds like it’s in a low gear? Are you saying the rpm remains higher than you expect for the speed you are going? If so, that should make it accelerate more than you expect. Do you actually mean the opposite?

    Any check engine lights?
If not, sorry but you probably just don’t like the way it drives.

FKN floor it and stop pussy-footing around. Do not low-rpm lug these V6 engines, rev that sum'bitch up to 6000rpm sand let the engine and transmission work for you.

If automatic, it wants to be in the higher gear ~ lowest rpm for mpg. You can drive in a neighborhood and it wants to be in 5th or 6th

    if manual ~ different story

Using the skinny pedal is always my solution when I want to go fast. The good thing about an auto is that it downshifts for you.

I often wonder if people complaining about the auto downshifting expect to be able to launch the truck from a stop in 6th gear and burn the tires.

You need to get used to pushing the pedal, it has a "long throw" (as I call it). If you off road the truck you will appreciate not having a jumpy, or overly sensitive throttle.

It’s a dog just like the rest of them. Save your pennies and nickels and get a $200 tune and it will run like it should have from the factory.

That’s what I say you need to learn the skinny petal on this truck it requires some touch to get used to.
