I think a sub 50 mile round trip in 4wd with out a driveshaft shouldn't be terrible. Just annoyed that my marks got messed up. Would have been a simple job

 

Ya I really wish I used something a bit more permanent now. Kinda screwed myself a bit. Oh well.

 

Did you completely dismantle the joint or just half of it?

 

I just rework my driveshaft before my cv’s or carrier ever go out so have them done at the same time….lmao

 

I had to completely dismantle the u joint by the carrier bearing. When I reassembled it the first time a few needle bearings fell out of it. However, that was 100% referenced properly. The issue is coming from the yoke being off a tooth or two on the spline

 

I would clock the two far end zerks so they are lined up if I lost my marks on the center. Then look where the center joint zerk is and get it lined back up. Hopefully you didn’t completely dismantle every joint and lose you marks.

 

I only took apart the joint by the carrier bearing. The zerk thing wouldn't work with my case anyway. The front and rear joints have the zerk in the middle, and the center one has the zerk on the end cap if that makes sense.

 

That makes sense. Mine are in the cross.

 

Two of my old ones are, the new one I bought that was the same as oem isn't in the cross. Not sure why

Make sure your driveline is in phase, basically only 2 ways to have it if you align the joints properly like so

 

Yep. This what happened when I accidentally pulled my drive shaft apart on my GX. I just put it back together and had a bad vibe. Saw something like this diagram and fixes it and it’s been smooth since then.

It was. Apparently my yoke got messed up. The u joints slid in super easily and the guy at drivelines NW said it came out when he took off the clip. 259 bucks later the issue is resolved
