Mine came with a factory AGM and I know I'm not supposed to swap with a standard battery. Probably for the same reason.

My girlfriend's Mazda had a factory Panasonic battery. We replaced it with a Die Hard at the five year mark. It was starting to crank a bit slower and failed the test when I put my cheap battery tester on it. I don't mess around with old batteries in the winter. Last thing I want is her stuck somewhere an hour from home on a 0 degree day.

Yeah it's just about voltages. That said for YOURS, going DOWN to 12.6 might just not work if something is spec'd for 13.5.

I'm not sure if this is the one I have, but it looks the same and probably came out the same factory. This thing only lost 1 of 5 lights on battery level to get my truck going. It was a gift and I was skeptical of it even having enough kick to get the truck going at all, but it only used 1/5 of it. Comes in a tiny dinky little carrying case - in my mind, that's enough to at least get it going and then go straight to vatozone/home.

I think that's the same one I have. Have started multiple vehicles with it including full size trucks. Also been great to charge phones and flashlights

I think auto stop/start was the differentiator between having an AGM and not in the F-150s. That system probably doesn't play nicely with regular batteries. I think they all have auto stop/start now - at one time the N/A V6 and the Coyote didn't have it, but they've since added it to both.

Yep. Stuck with normal LeadAcid on mine... 2, 1100 amp batteries... painful. Mine has the dual alternators. Been a year on these Costco/Interstates, truck sits... sometimes for months at a time....no issues starting, even when it's 2 degrees.

I have the Noco GB40(I think). Starts my van a lot... won't try the diesel.. too much draw...

Lithium in one of my bikes(bagger), and AGMs in the other 2... and they will get lithium as well when it's time.

I have a Noco Genius 2D mounted under the seat on my ATV. I don't use the ATV much, so it's handy to be able to just plug it in whenever I want to get the battery back up to where it should be without worrying about overcharging it. I kept it plugged in all winter when I used to park it in the garage since it'll also work as a maintainer.

Now I’m curious if these Panasonic batteries that Toyota uses are superior to the typical auto part store batteries or if Panasonic is just the low bidder. Are more of you guys getting more than 5 years out of the stock battery?

Did you previously mention maybe selling the ATV? What do you have for make/model? I was loosely looking recently but prices seemed high for used stuff. I’d love to have one around the property for fun and a little work

Back at my old job the Panasonic coin batteries were better than any other. Top notch. Same with the battery cells in the powered respirator units

My dad was able to get 13 years out of the factory Panasonic battery in his '03 Tundra, it was even drained completely when someone left the door open over night, but he just recharged it, and it lasted until 2016!

Every time I start thinking I should sell it, I get reminded why I have it. I got the garden tractor stuck pretty badly while clearing snow in the last storm and the ATV made quick work of pulling it out.

It's a 2002 Yamaha Grizzly 660. At this point I think it's worth more to me than whatever I'd get for it. It's good mechanically, but cosmetics aren't fantastic so that would hurt its value.

Yeah I remember seeing it when I picked up that tarp/tent garage setup. I would love an older simple model for the house. I love having the Kubota tractor but having an ATV as well would be a nice addition. I looked at older Grizzly’s and older Honda Ranchers and was surprised at the prices I was seeing

I paid $3k for mine about five years ago. Looking around, it seems it's still worth at least that.

The big benefit to the Grizzly is the front differential lock. I don't think Hondas have that. That will get you out of just about any situation short of high centering it.

Actually, quite the opposite with that truck, he sold it with 340k miles on it in 2018. It spent most of its life driving on the highway (work commute).

Yeah 3k doesn’t seem bad to me. I’ll have to look more into the Grizzly. I like the Honda for the reliable engine of course. If you do want to sell, come to the forums first please!

    Will do!

The Yamahas tend to be solid. My uncle still has a late 80s Big Bear that he uses to haul firewood and it runs great. My 02 was the first year of the modern Grizzly with independent rear suspension and an LCD cluster. Being the first year, it's known for a few issues that they fixed in later model years, but nothing major. The main one is they run hot. I don't work mine hard enough to get it heated up too bad, but some people put bigger fans or radiators on to solve it.
