Interesting. If that bracket works, I may be able to use a set of them. Was told they were wayyyy too deep

Following this thread due to my interest in Morel Speakers.

The MKII are out while the MKI as used in this thread are discontinued.

I see that MKII are slightly deeper at 3.436in vs 3.35in. Do you know of that will be a problem using typical adapter brackets? Or would it help to have custom brackets made slightly thicker without hitting the inside door panels?

I’ve test fitted mine with different brackets and they fit fine. Haven’t installed due to haven’t had time to finish deadening the door like I want. Also still torn on selling them and using my other speakers

Cool, could you be more specific as to which brackets you used? I have mixed results using in past and generally not a fan of the run-of-the-mill Metras which have been brittle and warped/unusable

I dont recall the brand I have as I found them on Amazon. I haven’t installed them but my plan was to add deadener to them to make them more rigid if I decide to use the 6x9’s

Let me know when you do and take some pics! I'm eager to see if the MKII fit. They seem to be about as good as 6x9 component you can get for the money.

doors are 3-7/8" to the shallowest point from the mounting face of speaker opening. any adapter is going to add to this depth.

as referenced in my speaker stencil thread:

It may be a while. Haven’t been motivated to finish it all. Have an Audio Control LC4.800 going in as well. Friend had them in his 2012 Tacoma and they really sounded good

You have a 2010. Mine is a 2022. We don't even have the same vehicle.

@GRNT4R I have an '11 and I'm planning to get these spacers/mounts to make them fit (fingers crossed). I could have sworn a few folks got them to fit but possibly those were MKI. Does your friend have them in 2012 Tacoma? If so then they should fit but a thicker spacer will definitely help. I used one of those for my 6.5" but Im ready for 6x9 now. When I originally got my setup a few years back I don't think there were many 6x9 components even on the market.

Crutchfield lists them at 3-7/16" deep. Do yours measure about that or is their spec measurement a bit too high? Morel lists them on their site at 85mm or 3.35" which is slightly lower profile than listed on CF but the original post was MKI so just double checking before I drop the $$ on them

https://*********.com/shop/toyota-t...-speaker-adapter-front-door-installation-kit/ - looks like this site taco-tun3s got kicked off the forum for one reason or another but there are probably multiple options for something similar.

Yep there were able to fit in a 2012 and others have gotten them in older models like myself. The T Tunes brackets look nice, they will probably be a good fit as well. I don’t think CF is as precise as some may think. Some have used a small 1/8 strip of foam around the back of the speaker to get a little more depth and it helps seal the speaker to the door as well. Below is a pic of the speakers with a measurement of that helps

in my experience, crutchfield has always been quite pessimistic in terms of speaker fit and depth.

my 2001 eclipse came from the factory with 6.5" woofers in front and 6x9's in back. crutchfield said i could only fit 5-1/4 speakers all around.

I have a 2013 like you. Tweeters fit fine. They come with several different mounts. Surface, flush, swivel.
