Yep, that was the plan. The one on there appears to be 2.0kw already--17669 is a 2.0kw part number on RockAuto. If it was a 1.4kw I'd definitely be replacing it.

On second thought... will OE-spec replacement parts reliably fit a remanufactured starter? Is there a risk that my reman has different internals from the OE starter?

Good. Considering it's only never been taken off that one time, not too bad for that many miles

Holy smokes. What did you break/need to replace that cost so much? Or is that just the going price for four shocks? (which makes me feel a little less bad about buying my spring compressor, hahaha)

$1100 does seem like quite a bit unless shafts, internals and such which would never be part of a normal, timely rebuild, also had to be replaced.

If you don't mind sharing, about how much was it for all the shock parts you had to buy to rebuild your 4 shocks last year?

Then there is $700 for a spring compressor, $400 for a nitro recharge kit, labor $0 :) =$1100. Of course, these are one-time costs essentially.

    4 run, 2 don't
Damn, I bought a whole new rebuild kit for half that (or slightly less).

My rebuild for all four shocks was:
    • oil (1 gallon covered 4, 2.5" shocks w/resis): $65
    • seals (4 kits): $100
    • spherical bearings (8 of FKSSX10T-F1): $160
    So, for the rebuild, $325

    Then, tools, as you mentioned:
    • spring compressor: $700
    • nitro kit: $400 (or free, I suppose ;), thank YOU)
    • misc bits like the spanner wrench, threaded rod: added up to $61
    • consulting fee to @TMFF which was the best $100 I ever spent
so one-time cost of $1261 (or $861 for me)

Still, pays for itself after one more rebuild if that runs me $325 as well.

Safe enough to use on the upper and lower plenums? I want to deep clean mine while they are off.

I don't think you want it in the engine, but on the 3RZ both halfs of the manifold come off the engine just like the 5VZ, I wouldn't clean it on the engine, you'll end up with sludge sitting on top of the valves (you could clean in that chamber super carefully if you make sure the valves are close and then vacuum after the solvent has flashed off.

Finally gave up on this overheating issue. Gave it to the shop to pressure flush since that worked last time and give it a once over.

Just got off the phone with them….
Said they did everything they could. Only other thing it could be is improper installation of the HG itself. I felt pretty certain I had placed them correctly, but at this point I’ve done everything else. To say I’m bummed is an understatement.
And I know the owner personally and grew up with his kids so he’s not bullshitting me.

Taking a shot in the dark here.. is there anyway to confirm the HG is indeed upside down before I rip it all apart? Again.

And if/once I do take heads back off, would you get new head bolts again? God they’re brand fucking new but I know they're suppose to stretch. TTY.
