Like them? Did you notice any difference coming from metal spokes? Things like that. Overall impressions.

Yeah, I like them a lot. The difference is noticeable coming from steel spokes. It's definitely lighter so the wheel spins up faster. It does add a little bit more give to the wheel so it feels a lot like when you just serviced your suspension (smooths out the small chatter) or if you were running 1 or 2 less PSI in your tires. Just like with every upgrade though, you get used to it and won't notice it after a while. Kinda like going to oval chainrings.

Should be finished building Gf's Epic Evo today. Its replacing the Chisel that gets trainer duty and 0 actual trail miles.

I can't add anything yet, but mine will be here in a couple of weeks.

I had the same reservations as you on the Onyx hook flange hubs. A little nervous that they may become irrelevant. I decided that, if that does happen, by then I will probably be interested in trying whatever else is out there.

They did a cyber monday deal for 22% off of the TR-27s, so I ordered a set with the onyx hook flange hubs.

The worst part about going with the Onyx hubs, is it is 6 weeks for Berd (or anyone else) to get the hubs because Onyx makes to order. Berd told me 7-8 weeks lead time for that hub vs. in stock for the I9s.

I figured, if I am going to go with something different, I might as well go wildly different. I got this wheelset for a bike I am building with no real time limit other than "by spring," so the wait hasn't bothered me.

I have a Nordic Track trainer that I use weeknights in my basement. I’ve lately been watching something like the Megavalanche POV run and using manual mode on the trainer rather than following one of the prescribed workouts. (Last night I watched the Killian Bron 2021 run). Anyone got any other POV rides that would be fun to watch while doing a trainer ride? Has to be POV and quicker pace, tried watching 8,600’ but too much narration.

i watched a lot of BKXC when doing trainer rides awhile ago. its mostly all POV but not very fast. Singletrack Sampler is kind of the same.

The Vegan Cyclist did a lot of race breakdowns earlier on his channel. One of his recent vlogs he mentioned he stopped because a faster rider (the faster rider was in the video with him) started doing it better than him and he pivoted his channel into something different. He's mostly a road cyclist but dabbles in gravel and mtb.

Before I found any of these channels, I would watch trainer workout videos on youtube. It was pretty much POV (it may have been a car pov its been years i dont remeber) but it would also say "ride in zone 4 for 60 seconds" and stuff like that to break up the monotony.

but now i just have something entertaining on the tv and zwift next to it. harder workouts get music videos or playlists. i find i dont put out as much power when im watching tv, i get distracted and my power droops.

The Veegan Cyclist and Jeremiah Bishop - they do the Impossible Route series, I think there are 4 or 5 trips that are entertaining to watch. Not completely POV but fun to watch the journey and area they are traveling. They just recently posted a Tour de France video, where they completed a few stages from the early 1900s. I’ve enjoyed all of the routes they have tried/completed.

Otherwise, Star Wars Andor, Netflix series are what keep me going on the trainer. I’m currently watching Longmire on Netflix. Easy to watch and follow and not have to be completely on every detail.

I'm on the trainer 5 days a week right now.

I've learned what I can and can't watch while working out. Something like Longmire is perfect. No need to really follow the nuances of the plot. I'm currently watching Yellowstone for the same reason. I always use subtitles too.

I usually watch some cyclocross road racing while doing the higher intensity workouts where I can't really follow a story or dialogue.

Yep - trainer is all I’ll be doing for a bit. I sliced the tip of my thumb off day before christmas and can’t currently safely grab the bars. MTB will be even longer time away, as I don’t know when I’ll be able to use the dropper. I’m hoping a week or so more and I can at least ride the roadie or gravel bike out on the bike path.

Otherwise, gonna be watching Walt, Vic and Branch solve all the murders :)

Ruined my New Years resolution of not buying another bike..... but for only $400 I had to. Want to get studded tires but need to see if any snow actually sticks this winter first. Thinking about some yellow grips and pedals to get this puppy looking flashy

Nice! I picked up a cheap OG pugsley with the rear triangle offset last year. It came with similar Nate 4.0's but FYI I replaced with a Surly Edna 4.3 in the rear (couldn't go any bigger) and a Surly Lou 4.8 in the front (plenty of room to go bigger, say 5.0) and love it in the snow! I don't need a studded set, especially considering they are close to how much I bought the entire bike for! Here are some pics of mine

That things looks like a beast! Love that color too. I want to get some bags for mine and maybe a rack. It is supposed to snow here in NH tomorrow so I'm eager to give it a ride and see what I want to do, while also trying not to spend a ton.

anyone got any recommendations for a cool wall mounted mountain bike calendar? i had a 2021 trail forks one that was nifty, but i dont think they made one for 2023. doesn't need to be super fancy, its gonna go on the wall in my cube at work

I rented one of these a couple of weeks ago via Turo. Surprisingly, it was a good truck. It would make a good bike rig. I doubt if it would be as reliable as a Taco but I owned a Wrangler Sahara in the 90's for about 5 years and I did not have one bit of a problem with that Jeep.
