What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Yes, I've been following. I would have mounted hung the lights from home fabbed brackets instead of pushing the BAMF mount outboard. I think keeping the longer BAMF tabs in contact would better counter the leverage of heavy lights but you have a better handle on the weights.

My cutting started with the bumper, so the stock grill was no issue.

 

The 2 upper mounts are basically resting on the radiator bushings so using round spacers gives me pretty much the same contact area. The lower mount did have more contact but the piece of metal that it does contact is thin and flimsy so I didn't think it really helped that much.

I thought about making brackets using angle iron but seeing as it's 20degrees outside and my garage isn't insulated I figured $25 in new hardware was a worthy experiment.
Maybe this summer I will try to think up a good robust mounting solution that brings the lights within a few inches of the grill.

The 2 reasons I wanted to bring the lights farther out was to mount the horns in the factory orientation, instead of making new brackets for them. And the lights I got have side shooter LEDs, like Baja Design LP6, so I thought if I could get them closer to the grill I might be able to get some function from the wide angle LEDs.

 

Phone/GPS/Handheld Radio mount is complete! Yes I’ve posted parts of this before but I tend to do stuff like this in stages re-evaluateing my next move at every step.

 

Which light bar is that? I painted my stock grill as well. I think it looks great black!

 

Is it just me or does the axle looked pushed too far back towards the rear of the bed?

 

I think its just that mud flap that makes it look that way

Hmmm I hope not, I checked to make sure both the shock and leafs are the right way around. It might be the 32s just looking kinda small now.

Its from Expedition Essentials the same as the rail mount itself. You can buy the holder alone if you want but its cheaper to buy it as part of a packaged set then individual parts.
