I have a Gen3 Trd Sport Access Cab and I ordered Bilstein 5100 shocks. Since it's an Access Cab Bilstein states that the 2" notch is not recommended

Which notch should I use to level the truck and looks best? 0.65" or 1.1" or 1.55"

Which tire size should I order since it's an Access Cab? The stock tire size is 265/65R17. I was thinking with a level it should be either 265/70R17 or 275/70R17.

I'm assuming 285/70R17 is too big...

The wheels I ordered have a 0mm offset

Please post pictures of your Gen3 Access Cab if you have any examples

I’ve spent months reading through different threads.
a lot of people put the 5100 at 0 notch but then get longer springs to give them the lift. That could be an option.

I’ve also read that with a 2 inch lift up front, and 0 offset wheels, you can fit 275/70/17, which shouldn’t rub.

When I installed mine, I used the top notch for the driver side 2.5" and one below for the passenger side 2". I did that for the driver side .5" lean. I have an access cab too.

Logically the access cab front is lighter than a double cab. So based on Bilstein's recommendation, it's to match their lift/height data. Use 2" driver and 1.6" passenger settings and you'll be fine.

275/70/17 on a 0 offset will still slightly rub and you'll have to trim a little around where the mudflaps screw onto the truck. YouTube vids by runnin4tacos can guide you with the trimming.

    Good luck!IMG-20220731-WA0032.jpg

The least amount of issues, go 3rd notch and 265-70-17. This is tried and true. Lots of tire choices and best ride quality.

Top notches on 5100's ride like tractors. Really unpleasant and bouncy, especially on rough terrain. It's subjective for sure, but I'm putting my opinion out there.

275's will work, there's not many choices and you'll likely end up with KO2's. No rubbing as long as the alignment tech is capable.

In your experience would the ride be better if 5100s were not raised 2 inches and you got longer coils (887s?) to give the lift?

I have never driven a truck with 5100's and 887s. (or any aftermarket spring)

Only OME with 886's and 887's. I used to love how OME nitro chargers drive, and now I've converted to the Bilstein side of things. 6112's are far superior in ride quality.

I would expect if the weight rating is correct, that the 887 would ride much better on a 5100 than a raised factory spring.

Yeah I probably should've got 6112's. I didn't because it's the Sport (not the Off-Road). Before I install the 5100's at the 3rd notch (1.1") is there a better coil I could use rather than using the factory coils? I'm not against the factory coils, but maybe other coils provide a better ride quality?

This is my conclusion as well. The front shocks set to the 3rd notch (1.1") with the rear stock-height with 265/70R17 seems to be best for a leveling kit on an Access Cab. The tires I ordered are LT and E rated so instead of the diameter being 31.65" they're instead 31.9". Probably unnoticable, but 275's were 32.2" so I went with something in the middle. It should be fine and we'll see how the E rated tires ride. I've always had E rated tires and even on a Gen2 Tacoma when I didn't know it.

if youre using aftermarket coils like ome you have to set it to the lowest notch. if youre using stock coils you can use the diffent notches. you should spend a little more time on researching, you seem to not understand basic instructions for the bilstien 5100's.

It's not that complicated. Stock coils allow you to use any notch. The 5th notch (2") is recommended against by Bilstein for Access Cabs because of their weight. I simply asked if there's an aftermarket coil that might be better than the stock coils. I do understand basic instructions for the Bilstein 5100's...

I had 275 previously and it rubbed a little bit on my splash guard/mudflaps on full lock.
I have 285's now and they rub a bit on the bumper with Factory-ish castor.
I have about 150-200lbs. of tools and accessories in my cab. If that helps with analysis.

Are you going to add a steel bumper, winch, skid plates, roof rack, and or sliders. What extra weight willyou be carrying in the cab? Any of these will make a diffence where you need to set the shocks, in order to level out your truck.
You also need to know the height difference between the front and rear before deciding on a distance to raise/lower one end or the other to level it.
The tire sizes you mentioned will make a negligible difference (1/2 - 3/4") in the heighth of the truck. Tire size is a personal preference.
