I’ve been on this form for a couple years but my 2017 was total in February 2022 and request for the one that same month access Cab Toyota Tacoma m/t with tech package multiple accessories but never got it and I talk to 3 dealerships all they said I live in the wrong region so I just broke down and bought a used 21 Sport four-door m/t with 9600 miles I like it but kind of pissed me off they couldn’t get what I wanted darn Toyota allocation request system

 

That seems to be a common complaint in TW. Many folks here travel long distances to find what they are looking for. Toyota allocation system leaves a lot to be desired.

Thanks for checking. I was told the 1st or 2nd week of February for delivery. I did put the deposit down around that time so that build date does line up. Thanks again for checking!

 

August 2022

• Sold our 5th gen
• Started looking for a used 2nd gen DCLB w/ low mileage but discouraged from seeing ridiculous prices for vehicles with high mileage.

Sept 2022

• Reached out to the dealer we purchased my wifes '21 RAV4 from to be put on an interest list (no deposit required)

October 2022

• Received an email from dealership saying they were allocated a truck with similar specs that we requested but it had the advance tech package (+$3,175) that we weren't super interested in but reserved it anyways (still no deposit required)
• ETA was mid to late December 2022
• This was when I reached out to @Rod03 for info using the temporary VIN

December 2022

• @Rod03 gave me transit info when I requested it and slowly the ETA kept shrinking once it left the port of LAZARO CARDENAS.

January 02, 2023

• Received call from dealership saying truck was loaded onto the transport truck and enroute.
• Booked plane tickets for Friday, Jan 06 to fly to Northern California to pick it up.

January 06-07, 2023

• Purchased truck, drove half way home and spent the night in Solvang, CA (Danish town)
• Received first windshield chip from all the construction along the 101

2023 DCLB TRD OR w/ advance tech package (mtm/360/ birds eye view camera system) and larger 8" display

 

But fourth dealerships I talk to three days before I bought mine my 21 I was willing to pay $1200 above but he said yes at first until he find out what state I’m from how much I was going to put down as a down payment
then he changed his mind and said if you weren’t from his state he would not sell it to individual no matter how much money you paid over MSRP but The Manager said they will lose there allocation if they sold out of state but I think the biggest reason is they’re going to stop making manual transmissions for the Gen3 tacoma no matter what trim you get unless it’s not been allocated already prior to December 2022 but that rumor control but Think he wanted to sell it to his buddies instead of me

 

Usually they don't ask how much you're putting down until you're there on the lot with the vehicle. We bought my wife's RAV4 from the same dealership in 2021 (at the height of the chip shortage), and the dealer did not ask for a deposit to reserve the vehicle that was just allocated, but not yet built. They did not ask how I was paying and didn't know I was paying in full upon delivery/ purchase.

But yea, the out of state thing is common now. Dealers in Arizona would not sell to me since I'm in CA.

Been looking the last month or so, planning on my last OR MT DCSB before its wheelchair time and the only mid sizes available all look the same and have no lasting grit.
It's tough to find one in the west.
From UT looking at WA/OR/CA/ID/CO etc.
Have only had one ID dealer (so far) req financing/trade in to do a deal or $3k cash on the barrel extra.
Nobody wants to to trade inter-dealer, no orders, just get in line for an allocation "if one shows up."
One dealer in the SLC valley took a $500 refundable depo but who knows, seems like for Toyota corp., dealer allocations are everything.

 

Multiple door unlocks. fingers crossed it is getting loaded on the Salvia ace

 

What are you guys using to see door unlocks and stuff like that
