Teflon is pretty temp stable but I did install mine in AZ so the chances of it ever being that cold when I did supercharger service was pretty low haha

Do you mean that torqueing to spec will actually be over-torqued?

No, they squish more, so torquing to spec may ruin the gasket, I started doing everything until it felt right instead

I was just looking in my engine bay and noticed this connector was unplugged. I also saw another connector was taped to part of my air intake (see pic). Anyone know what thing connector is for?? Thank you!!
(Also created its own thread. I just figured it might get seen better here.)

    Ouch.
Was that the mistake of the parts store having an kit that was wrong?

    another reason to go OEM

It was oem actually. They just emailed me back and they’re refunding me the cost of the HGs.

    This is the story apparently:
“We assemble the kits and we are only as good as our weakest link. Unfortunately we had an employee that did not do the best work. I looked back and they were the one that built your kit. They were terminated on 11/04/22, about 5 days after your order was shipped. We are sorry about this, if you are ever unsure about a part fitment or anything please reach out to us, we are here to help.”

So who knows if that’s true or not. All I really cared for was the refund. So, partly their fault, and partly mine. Live n learn.

The 3RZ has a complete kit from Toyota that includes all the gaskets for all the things needed to do the job. Is this the equivalent of that kit, or some dealer assembled version?

In Toyota language that's a Valve Grind Kit and there should be a part number for every Toyota engine. But I think it still has to have individual parts assembled together to make the kit at a dealer level. @Empty_Lord is that about right? When I ordered the valve grind kit for my Land Cruiser the dealer called to say they could get all but one part which ended up being fine.

Ah ok. This is what it was listed as on my invoice:
    0411275190 1 $ 233.05 Engine Cylinder Head Gasket Set
    Gasket Kit, Engine Valve Grind.

    https://parts.toyota.com/p/Toyota__/Engine-Cylinder-Head-Gasket-Set/62992491/0411275190.html

    It looked very OEfficial.

Ah. Well at least they made it right. Shit happens though. That sucks. Sorry you have to go through and do it all over again. I'd be pretty frustrated too.

Do both the left and right side look pretty similar? are there any stampings to distinguish left from right? I'm a 4cyl so only have to worry about 1.

Uhh basically. More or less. This is what I got. I’ve bought stuff from them before and it all seems genuine original parts. Dipshit just decided to give me two right sided HGs. https://www.yotashop.com/gasket-kit...d-gasket-replacement-kit-2000-2004-kit-1020b/

Yes the ones they sent are actually completely identical. I just didn’t take enough time to inspect. There is a stamp of “2G26 R” on one and “2G04 R” on the other. That should’ve been a red flag to me but nope. Told myself it’s probably just a part # or stocking #, it’s a damn kit, no way they can mess that up.

    yet here we are :)

What RPM are you guys shifting at in your 2.7L manual 5 speed trucks? I'm shifting at about 2000-2300 RPM on flat surface. +200 to +300 RPM on hills. What are you guys shifting at?

lol lotta factors to consider for that. What's your axle gearing, tire size, tire weight, overall truck weight..... I could go on
but for me I shift on average around 2.5-3k

Stock tires. No extra weight. I don't know my gear ratio
EDIT: Stock SIZE tires. Different tread pattern
