And now it’s only a perfectly average sized pipe instead of a long pipe. If size matters to you

Just got a nail in my tire at 4500 miles on the odometer.

Debating if I should repair it myself with the slime PLUG kit I have or take it off and bring it to discount tire to fix.

Haven’t done it myself before so this may be the time to learn…. Anyone have experience doing it yourself? I really don’t want to deal with how busy discount tire is on Saturdays….

    That slime shit is awful.

Best solution: go to a reputable tire shop that will dismount your tire and patch it from the inside.

Alternately, you can plug the tire yourself if the puncture is in the tread. Plug kits are readily available at any parts store and it’s very easy. You should be able to remove the nail/screw and install the plug without even removing your wheel from the truck.

The Slime plug kit is fine. Just made by the same company as the other stuff.

I’ve used the Harbor Freight plug kit, I keep 2 in each vehicle. Works well, be careful using the reamer tool, it bends easily….

Yep DeSantis promoted it back in July and then it had to hit the required pre-order numbers and they just became available. I'm sure there are more out there but I haven't seen another one yet.

I pre-ordered mine but I would assume they are available at the DMV.

January 7th, Happy New Year to you all!
Parts have still not arrived to repair my damaged Tacoma.
Makes me want to buy them all off Ebay and wherever i can get them from and fix them myself,
the only thing i cant do is the body work on the tailgate. ugh ! the world has gone to shit when i have been waiting 6 months now for parts. the thing that is messed up is that they are available but the body shop states they are still waiting. that's BS

Bring it to a tire shop, this way you'll get the practice in taking the spare down and re installing the spare back up into place.
I recommend checking it after you install it into its holder a week later.

LED interior, license plate, and fog lights. More to come.
@TexasWhiteIce at that mileage I'd probably get it patched from the inside at a reputable tire shop. Personally, I'd steer away from any plug kit with plastic handles. Having plugged dozens of tires all I can envision is the plastic breaking and the steel shaft going straight through my hand. I bought a good kit with steel handles many years ago. Something like this would probably work well.

Long time ago, I paid to have a shop fix a flat, then I got the invoice. $$$$$-Expensive-$$$$$. Then I found a tire repair kit in AutoZone and bought it. Later, after I encountered a road hazard that punctured my tire I FIXED MY OWN FLAT!!! Wow, I saved all that money it was FUN! And it was easy. My plugged tires never leaked so I was stoked and it was a fulfilling experience.

So. What did you do with your flat tire today?

Yes. There’s these little threaded slider things that slide in the rail and bolt to a bracket so they take up some space in the rail but you can mount the cleats wherever the brackets aren’t. Plus if you have the rear most rail you can use the whole length of it but I don’t. Actually may consider getting one, I don’t know…

    Thanks! Like it so far!

Just wear leather yard gloves if this is your fear. I've never broke a handle on one of these tools, I agree, buy a good one and some of the plastic ones are good.
