dusters to keep car clean

what do you guys use to keep your car nice and clean from dust and what not between washes?? i was looking into the original california super duster:

i got a cali duster for on the cheap, so I picked it up and use it quite often..Works great for a quick wipe down

 

I have one too and it does work great when you use it at the right time. I've found it works best after the first 1-3 days after a wash. Anything after that your truck will by then have accumulated a decent amount of dirt and it will put fine scratches on the clear coat. Another thing I use is the dash mat (mini) California duster for the interior plastic which was probably the $7 bucks I've spent on my truck.

 

sweet... so what if you dusted it everyday?? if you leave it for about 3 days, its caked on and will scratch clear coat.. but if i dust every day i should be good to go? iono

 

Your going to scratch the clearcoat no matter what you do, I have a really nice pic of my truck, that shows the fine scratches in it from cleaning it. Sucks, but its unavoidable.

 

Dust mine every morning before I drive to work. Only have to wash it every couple of months or so.

 

true.. it is inevitable... however its nothing major major right?

 

Nothing that can't be buffed out on your next wax job.

Yeah, I've got one of these.

Every day, a fine layer of dust and pollen accumulates. I use mine right before driving home on the evening commute.

You want your car to be nicely waxed, so the surface is slick and doesn't hold the dust.

Once it rains - don't use the duster until you wash the car again. It's for dust, not caked on dirt.

 

I have great results with this, and it has never left any scratches. It might be a little more work than the California Duster, but you can do your truck no matter how dirty it is.

A few rules of thumb (IMHO):

- Start with a perfectly clean vehicle and give it a good waxing
- Dust it daily
- If it gets wet (rain, dew, puddle splash, whatever), don't dust it...wash it with soap and water
- Clean it with a spray wax or quick detailer about once a week right after a dusting and use lots of cloths

Scratches are inevitable regardless of what method you use. The dusting method keep your truck looking perfect every day, saves lots of water and a ton a time. It just takes discipline to do it every day.

 

I actually threw mine away the other day. I used to use it all the time on my last car but stopped using it. I suppose out of laziness. It worked great but didn't survive my garage cleanup/re-org last weekend.
