Who was I supposed to remind about sending some license plates to my nephew? He's going to be 10 in a few weeks I'd like to suprise him with a few. I'm gonna go looking for some next weekend too.

As far as the HOA thing, I see both sides of it. I don't live in a hoa but it is a neighborhood. For property value's sake I want my neighbors to keep up their crap.
We looked at a house awhile back and learned that the HOA says you can't park a truck in the driveway overnight, has to go in the garage. I said ok thats a little much, control freak.

I’ll be honest with you, that’s how I felt before my bypass surgery. It isn’t the bypass that fixed it… but made it obvious. It’s a combination of “good sleep” and “good health”. You have to sleep well (comfortable rest, no snoring or apnea) and good health (balanced food choices and useful exercise, I’ve expounded in a prior post). It’s a bit crazy, but the better you feel, the better things are. It took a while to find the right mattress for my wife and I because she’s a polar opposite. Every quality I like she hates, and vice versa - ended up with a split (two twinXL with a filler).

Hand eye coordination as long as your body holds up your good to go.

I was always told that was what made welders outstanding rather then just average.

Yes, BIL lives in one of those. He’s a state trooper and it’s his work truck. They threatened to tow it, he told them good luck… it’s a stalemate. You’d think just the presence would be an enhancement…

I would hope you are able to watch and protect your chickens.

I hear tell a new breed of chicken is being bio engineered as a free range chicken to handle coyotes and foxes.

We’re the same, can only see a neighbor when the leaves are down. Not as much property in some cases. If we stay put I’m going to try and buy a bit more land. Screw HOA stuff.

We have a covenant in my neighborhood but it's not nearly as strict as HOAs. That and things really aren't enforced, anyway. Most of the rules equate to keep up your house and property and don't be a dick.

On another forum I'm on, a member lives in a HOA. He did some things that weren't strictly called out saying he couldn't but the HOA board got all pissy about it and started harassing him about it. So he waited for a vacancy on the board, got elected and changed the rules.

In July we moved from the next town over to where we are now. We went from living in a duplex and having our tenant share a wall with us, neighbors visible on three sides and the fourth side was I95 to 5.4 acres, living off a medium traveled state road, turn onto a medium traveled town road, onto our private road, which is a quarter mile long. We live in the last lot and cannot see our neighbor even in the winter unless you count having to stand in one particular spot and barely being able to make out a structure through the trees. We see the three local deer more than our neighbors. And our closest neighbor just took off for a couple months for a warmer climate.

    Congratulations!

That’s the type of property my wife and I are looking for since the ROW fiasco.

The market in the upper three counties in NH have dried up but we’re checking every day or so…. Tired of dealing w neighbors we are :D

Thanks! It was a complicated decision and more complicated process. The easy part was being "in the country" and believe it or not, living 3 miles away from the in-laws, and having my 84 year old mother live with us. If you are committing to taking care of your parent it is much easier in the same household and having her in an "apartment" on the end of the house gives a good amount of privacy while being close by to "check on her". I was not in love with the topography as I enjoy rocks, ledge, change in elevation, etc. This property has nothing bigger than a grain of sand on it and the only hill is the one we created for our foundation. The water table can get so high that we had to build the foundation up instead of digging down. We went about one foot down and about 8 feet up. But through some pretty serious rain the basement crawl space (5'7") is dry. The scary part is the amount we had to pay to play and the fact that if we were to pay off the mortgage on time I would be 87. This was not the financial plan I had set up before we took this path. But hey, life is an adventure. And there was no winner in the lottery last night. Maybe I will win? But I guess I should actually play if I might expect to win. :fingerscrossed:

    New Poll?

$1.1 Billion Lottery. Will you play?

    A. Nope. I win every time I don't spend the money and lose.
    B. Yes. But only one ticket. If I am going to get lucky I shouldn't need to spend the extra money.
    C. Yes. I will be spending at least $20. The more I buy the better my chances!
    D. Damn Right I Will Be Playing! And if I win all of my friends in this thread are getting a payday!

    Yep.

That's what it took at my last house. The HOA hoarded up almost $500,000 and were doing absolutely nothing except hiring a friend who owned a landscaping business. Dues were cut, money was spent, stuff was approved, and the neighborhood appearance was improved. :burp: My current HOA has their knickers 3 sizes too small and more free time than a Hollywood celebrity. A for sale sign and move is in the works.

    Good for you!

Neither one of us have any parents at this point and we prefer older homes, say built in 1900 or before. We’re patient and figure we’re in a decent situation to jump on the right property when it comes up.

Problem is there’s a ton of $$ from southern NH, MA, CT buying properties up
