Yeah, he has since installed the snorkel....one engine replacement later. He was the first guy into the puddle and no one knew how deep it was. He's young and then made the mistake of trying to start the truck again, which broke a piston and likely bent other things.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
Ouch. If I'd known what I was potentially getting into I would have taken the bypass. But that wasn't much better.

Also just realized I said "scoop" instead of "snorkel" in my other post. Oops.

That was definitely some aggressive mud you went through though!

Got anything to pull 30 mpg+ out of the 2.7, with less downshifting? I’m so close with my current set up.

I have a friend in a new one there. I'll give him your info. I might swing through at some point too, but already tuned a year or so ago.

I honestly forget. I think the 'normal'? It's not light, or the sport.

Finally got a CMC and 33s on my Taco. Love love the look.

(Expedition Vehicle Outfitters in Fowler (just north of Lansing) did my CMC. They’re super knowledgeable on Tacoma’s if anyone’s looking for a shop. I know I had a hard time finding one)

Great looking truck - the 33's look good on it! And, thanks for the recommendation on the shop. I've been having a hard time finding one that has some experience with Tacomas here in my part of MI.

Congrats on the new Tacoma! I’m also in SE Michigan and have a third pedal taco (2.5 gen). If there’s enough interest, maybe start a metro Detroit meet up haha!

There was also a Toyota FB car club that did a meet up/show back in July. Had quite a few yotas, both the off-road and street machine varieties.

Awesome! Will be getting in touch with them soon!

I don't have the tools / garage for things like suspension work, re-gearing, etc. and like most Taco owners, have a laundry list of changes I want to get done over time (spousal approval and the wallet seem to be the biggest limiting factors). Not sure how many times I'll need to explain to my better half why a suspension upgrade, armor, and probable re-gearing for the weight of the RTT, winch, air compressor, solar system, racks, etc, are absolutely "needed" on my daily driver that will mostly see the UP of MI and maybe a few trips out west ! LOL

Yea, my wife doesn’t seem to understand why I need a $1000 rack system to haul my bike out to the trails here in SE Michigan. She wonders why I can’t just throw it in the back of my pick up….. That’s so barbaric if you really think about it….
