huh I always thought the 6.2 was because the original amount was in liters, and that the liter amount would been a nice even 6 liters. Guess even with liters your going to have a odd amount left over.

You must have the oil cooler?

Need some help guys - dealer changed oil - and I check dip stick and one side is very high and other side is a little high … checked it a good ten times and followed the guidance in here about running engine, pulling out stick for 5 minutes and then checking. Is this too much oil? Which side is accurate?

First pic is definitely overfilled by about 300ml or so. I wouldn’t worry about a second pic.

It’s usually high and not clear on one side and a clear line on the other side.

Should I drain it a little or is 300ml not a big deal?

If that’s the case I’m even more perplexed. The first reading is always a mess and looks very overfilled. It’s the second and third that looks more clear. I took it to the dealer and showed them. No matter what I did, either side, everyone just said “oh that looks fine” and pointed to an imaginary line where it was supposed to be. It just seemed like they didn’t want to mess with it. I am really fucking pissed. I can’t get a reading or a straight answer.

ok - ran engine again and seems the dimple side of the stick shows maybe 300ml over

Top dot is MAX oil level mark, I would definitely drain a bit.

You let your truck sit on level surface for a bit yes?

It’s level. And I agree. Time to find a new service dealer. Liars to my face.

If you can, do the oil changes yourself. At least you will know everything is done right and not over torqued.

Takes about half an hour and you get a chance to inspect the undercarriage.

I wouldn't worry about that. It's maybe an 1/8th of a qt. As soon as you start the truck that 1/8th will be up in the engine circulating

Because I’m OCD I’m going to check it daily until I get a good reading. And by checking it daily, I’ll slowly be removing oil … problem solved lol

Honestly it looks like 100-200ml too high… about 2-4% … likely won’t harm
Anything if you’re that worried drain just that wee bit… but overall it seems fine to me.
It’s likely within “margin of error” for the dealer and tech and they won’t do shit

I don’t know. Top dot is MAX oil level mark. Only takes a few minutes to drain a bit of oil for peace of mind.

I go by the low side... i think the high reading is from that side of the stick being dragged up against tube. Try scuffing it up between the marks to make it easier to read.

All this is super helpful - I’m zero percent handy or capable of working on cars (feel free to call me an idiot, unmanly etc), but any idea the exact number of quarts represented by the distance between the two dots ?

    much appreciated everyone.
