Intake - What did you go with and why?

Basically, it's aesthetics!

I definitely agree. That recommended site (From YouTuber) is less expensive than the one I get from another location.

And it will give a 5% discount from that lower price. I just didn't check to see the shipping fee.

 

I got mine from BAM wholesale. Shipping was around $30 (to MI) but no sales tax was charged so I was happy.

how does that answer my question across all of the different models of intake available? are you saying all intakes are worthless? all intakes sound the same? all intakes aren't as worthwhile as the trd intake? the trd intake is worthless and other intakes are better?

HPS tube and a dry filter, stock intake is good I just wanted to get rid of the resonator

 

Went with the TRD setup minus the K&N looklike filter. Too much dust out here and what
the engine to live long. If anything sounds better and looks good.

 

The roads were nice and dry today so I tested/evaluated my new TRD intake noise just for you. As a disclaimer I also have a manual transmission and the TRD exhaust.

Just starting up and driving around if you didn't know it had a TRD intake you wouldn't hear anything different. Maybe a slight tad more growl, but honestly, nope. Highway speeds I didn't notice any more drone or rumble than normal. So far, nothingburger.

Where I could really hear it is starting right @ 3600 RPM and up when I was getting on it and holding the gears up to 4500 RPM before shifting.

The bitch roars even more now, and I frickin' like it! This is why I get like 12 MPG.

So IMO this is a mod that you won't notice you have until you really give it the beans. Then you'll hear it!

 

While id like the k&n intake tube to go along with my filter... Im in Cali and no one ships anything here anymore.

 

wonder which of the closed box intake systems is the loudest? yes im a child and like loud noises. have a 2023 manual trans and not being able to hear the engine is really weirding me out having to look at the rpm gauge sometimes. cant get any of the turbo noises like my 1st gen

 

Aluminum pipes should be loudest. Want even louder diy a V stack no filter. Like my Honda do when they hit Vtec it screams till 9k

 

Leave your stock air intake alone if you want to preserve your engine longer and not deal with the issues that come with aftermarket air intakes.

1. None of them filter fine particulate as good as the stock intake with a good paper filter.
2. The plumbing doesn't have the flexibility that the stock one does, so if you ever flex your truck out really hard, better hope you sinched those band clamps down.
3. Few of them actually provide "cold air".
4. They're noisy as fuck, so if you're one of those complaining about tires making noise, you certainly won't like these.

With all of that said, S&B is probably the best option (not the perfect one over stock), and offer paper filters that do a little better job at actually being a filter.

My advice would be to just leave it alone. The very small performance gain isn't worth the headache.

ordered s&b right after i made the post. now for the ott tune and core shifter.

 

I went with the TRD intake but with out the K&N filter and run stock OEM paper filters
best of both worlds, however I hadn't seen the S&B stuff will look anyway

 

@JaTe which diameter hose did you use the Amazon link kicks over to a 1.75 which
is Too small was it the 3.25 or the 3.5 ID hose?

I went with the silencer delete k&n drop in. I had an Injen cold air and it caused my fuel economy to drop drastically around town.

 

3.25. It probably defaulted to 1.75 bc the black 3.25 is out of stock.
