I placed and received my order of the 90010-09018 bulbs, they arrived and the little rubber cover is green and they fit, however, it still illuminated amber. I assume the rubber green cover is really opaque and was worthless. I ended up prying off the old green rubber from the dead bulbs so all in, I suppose it was successful in case anybody else needed to do this.

Great thread I found here, was investigating what to do to have my buttons illuminate, none currently do. - question for you guys, does the mirror switch unit also have bulbs? I figure it does but I havnt taken anything apart yet.

It does not, but here's a thread on how to get one that does.

Any of these bulbs can be swapped for a 3mm led of any color including white with an appropriate current limiting resistor. I hate the sickly green stock color. Just determine the polarity of the brown plug and install/twist the leads accordingly with the resistor soldered in.

Haven't read through every reply on this thread... but question??? I have a 2008 off road and it has I think 4 switches in this area with 2 lit up, are all these supposed to be lit? The fog and rear diff are lit but the clutch by pass starting and the inverter switch are not lit up. the other 2-3 places are blanks. thanks bob

i did read every post lol. and everything should light up left of the steering wheel except for the mirror controls.

I need to try getting to my fog light switch because i have to tap it to illuminate and my dash is half way apart doing the accessorides remote start.

my 2012 seems to have some metal structure below it making it hard to remove. I dont really understand what hes doing with the fishing line, unless thats what he is using to depress the tabs.

I don’t think the fishing line is depressing the tabs since the tabs are top and bottom and the fishing line is on the side to grab onto the side lip of the switch. I think between pushing on the rear of the switch and pulling the fishing line with enough force the retainer tabs don’t have enough resistance to hold the switch in place.

I saw a video where someone used a fairly thick paper clip straightened most of it out and put a little hook on the end. Slid it down the side of the switch turned 90 degrees to hook the back of switch and pulled it out. I’m gonna try that when I’m off next

So if everything on this side is supposed to be illuminated, do they all take the same bulb? I swear... I bought this truck new... first owner and all... and I can not ever remember any of these buttons being lit. But now I want to fix it right.

I’m still new to the Tacoma world but I’m pretty sure they take the same bulbs. My fog light one is intermittently out but I just deal with it for now

Has anyone found the correct part number / bulb for the 2.5 gen? I ordered part number
90011-01058 and it was the amber bulb. Would be happy with white, or stock color... can not do the amber though.

On that note, if anyone comes across this thread. I've got 5 bulbs im willing to sell cheaply.

If you still have your old ones you can carefully remove the green “condom” off and swap it over to the new bulb. I could’ve sworn they are the same size but different filter.

I changed mine to white, even the smd in the armrest. That green is just sickly. Fortunately base models don’t have many to begin with.

Is there an easy way to change to white? I see people talking about LED but I think that's over my head. I don't work well with electronics type stuff like soldering and resistors... if its not plug and play then it's probably too much for me lol
